Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLENDON HOWARD ATWOOD Glendon Atwood, 82, Dayton, passed away February 2, 2019, in the Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth, NS. Born in Yarmouth, August 6, 1936, he was a son to the late Willis Henry and Florence Annie (Rose) Atwood. Glen spent his career with Transport Canada as a civil engineer in Ottawa and Winnipeg. He ministered as a deacon of Hebron Baptist Church and as president of the Yarmouth Baptist Association, and was a member of the Canadian Bible Society throughout his life. He served on the boards of the Canadian Baptist Foundation, Wastecheck Nova Scotia, and the Yarmouth Airport Authority. He is survived by wife Janet Mary Atwood; daughter Karen Mary Elizabeth Atwood; sons, Phillip Gordon Atwood, Peter James (Mavourneen Mooney) Atwood and Mark Howard (Stephanie Lynch) Atwood; brother Gilbert Ashley Atwood; sister Eleanor Rose Henderson; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Anne McKenzie, and daughter Angela Atwood. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth, NS. Visitation will be Thursday, February 7, 2019, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from the Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Friday, February 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Hebron Baptist Church, Rev. Derek Langille and Rev. Mitchell Deware officiating. Burial to take place in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Hebron. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada or the Canadian Bible Society.
