WILLIAM JESSE BOTTLE
Born: Sep 10, 1937
Date of Passing: Feb 18, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JESSE BOTTLE September 10, 1937 - February 18, 2019 On Monday, February 18, 2019, William Jesse Bottle passed away at the age of 81 years. In his usual way, Bill 'battled' to the end. Bill was predeceased by his wife Sandra; grandson Cayden; and parents, Dot and Jesse Bottle. He is survived by his sisters, Joyce (Paul) and Margaret; his children, Barbara (Colin) and Ross (Bobbi); and six grandchildren. Bill grew up in Elmwood, and often talked about the simple pleasures of his childhood: going on hikes and cooking a tin of beans over an open fire, racing his bike around the schoolyard at King George V School, and playing hockey on local rinks and streets. It was also in Elmwood that Bill met Sandra, the love of his life. Bill and Sandra were married in 1959 and soon moved to the house on Cranbrook Bay where they would raise their kids and host legendary parties that folks still speak fondly of today. Bill worked for Canada Post his entire career where he made many lifelong friends. In 1991, he decided to take an early retirement from the Post Office. He and Sandra took a brave leap and moved to the south of Spain to be with friends, Ann and Joe Flood. Bill lived life to the fullest during his 13 years there in his garden, where he could be found climbing trees with a pruning saw in his hand, playing darts and cribbage at local pubs, and enjoying Spanish fiestas and dinner parties. Cremation has taken place. Bill was firm on what he wanted after his death - nothing in the way of a fancy service, and nothing in a church. To honour this wish, a party will be held at 155 Canora Street on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to drop in any time with their best Bill Bottle stories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deer Lodge Centre. Condolences may be sent to www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

My condolences to Ray and the family. I remember Bill as my hockey coach at Chalmers Community Club in Elmwood. We were playing Pee-Wee hockey and Bill used to slap us on the back of the pants with his hockey stick to make us skate faster. I remember one cold winter Saturday when we had to walk all the way to Point Douglas to play hockey at Norquay Park on the out door rink. We then walked all the way back to Chalmers where Bill had arranged for us to have hot chocolate and hot dogs. Just two of many great memories growing up in Elmwood. Thanks Bill. - Posted by: ken Collins (Friend) on: Mar 30, 2019
