STANLEY HOLYK September 27, 1934 - February 20, 2019 Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, our dear husband, father and Gigi continued his journey with the Lord. Stan was born on the family farm on September 27, 1934 in Springwell, MB. His younger years were spent working the family farm and cutting cordwood in the bush camps. Years later, he began his lifelong career in the automotive industry, selling cars first, then onto repairs and finally management where he retired at the age of 58. During retirement, Stan and Anne travelled extensively and enjoyed various activities together. He met the love of his life while fishing at the Brokenhead river. They spent four years courting and were married for 62 wonderful years. Above all their grandchildren were the love of their lives. Countless days and nights were spent together at Baba and Gigi's house. He is survived by his wife Anne, children, Don (Carla) and Sharon (Alan) and grandchildren, Cole, Gage and Cody, brother Gordon, sister Irene and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother John. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Concordia Hospital, palliative care and home care. A special thank you to Dr. Chowdhury, Dr. Dawe and Dr. Caners. Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • In 1974 I started my career at Canadian tire at the old Nairn store. Stan was the service manager He was down to earth and very cheerful attitude. Stan would come by over the years after his retirement and see me at the store. We would reminisce, tell a joke and laugh together. I will miss you. You were larger than life - Posted by: Michael Allard (Co worker) on: Mar 09, 2019

  • Julian and I were sad to hear the news of Stan's passing. We are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Julian & Lyn Woligroski (Friends) on: Mar 07, 2019

  • Dearest Auntie Anne, cousins, Don and Sharon and your extended families. Our thoughts are with all of you at this sad time. Childhood memories of Uncle Stan will always stay dear to my heart -- with his wonderful sense of humor and his love of children, he instilled treasured memories that will always bring a smile to my face! "In times of silence, love hears; in times of doubt, love hopes; in times of sorrow, love heals", Knowing Uncle Stan, this is what he would ask from his loving family: "THINK OF ME" Think of me and know I am with you, Think of me and smile. Think of me and know our parting is only for awhile. On the days you feel so desperate, to see my smiling face, Just believe in your heart I am with you, And that I'm in a beautiful place. So think of me and remember, All the memories in your heart, Any believe and know that this is true, Then we are never really apart." We are thinking of you all with sympathy, love, comfort and caring during this very difficult time, Valerie and Tony - Posted by: Valerie and Tony Kent (Niece) on: Feb 26, 2019

  • My condolences to the Holyk family. I grew up knowing Mr. H. as a dear friend and co-worker of my dad Bill Shinn. No matter if I saw him at C/Tire, out shopping or at my childhood home, Mr. H. always had a cheery smile and a warm hug to give anyone that crossed his path. His laughter will always remain in my mind as he loved to laugh and joke. Pretty sure that's why him and my dad got along so well. I would love to think the two of them are up in heaven together breaking a watch and laughing about it. You will be dearly missed RIP Mr. H. - Posted by: Brenda Imlah (Daughter of a friend) on: Feb 26, 2019
