Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET (MARNIE) ELEANOR ANKROM 1929 - 2019 It breaks our hearts to share that our dear mother Margaret "Marnie" Eleanor Ankrom passed away February 12, 2019 in Sherwood Park, AB at the age of 89. Marnie was born July 9, 1929 in Winnipeg, MB to Arthur Dowse and Doris (Metcalf) Dowse. (Winnipeg's DOWSE STREET is named for grandfather Franklin Dowse). Margaret Eleanor grew up a child of the Depression and knew the pain of the Second World War. Marnie was beautiful, smart, kind, generous and hard working. A person of strong moral character. Mother exemplified a "well lived life." She countered adversity with optimism. She loved life and we loved her very much. More than anything Marnie was devoted to her husband Edward Arthur Ankrom (2014) sharing a marriage of 64 wonderful years together. They married in 1950 in the Dowse family home and started a family celebrating Fleur, Blair and Bruce (twins) and Michele in St. Vital, MB. The young family moved to Edmonton in 1960 following Edward's promotion with Molson's Breweries. Marnie was a dedicated Brewmaster wife for the thirteen years in Edmonton welcoming youngest daughter Denise in 1966 and celebrating Ed's becoming Molson General Manager in 1971. The family of five children shared a beautiful home in the Meadowlark community that was always well manicured. The summer of 1973 saw Marnie and Ed along with daughters Michele and Denise on the move again to Prince Albert, SK for Ed to oversee the Molson P.A. Brewery. Marnie thrived during her 45 years in the smaller community as a most active member of the Cooke Municipal Golf and Curling Club, proudly shooting a "witnessed" hole-in-one on the course. Mother liked curling, but golf was her true love. Marnie was also a "Hatter" enjoying her many friendships with the Red Hat Society. Her PA group were the "Divine Divas." Marnie so much enjoyed the company of these ladies that she never missed a coffee or monthly outing, continually adding to her red/purple wardrobe to keep it fun and interesting. Leaving Prince Albert in the fall of 2017, Marnie was saddened to tears. She really missed her friends. 2017 saw Marnie return to the Edmonton area residing at Sherwood Care in Sherwood Park. The Ankrom Family would like to thank the directors and outstanding staff at Sherwood Care for the excellent care Mother received. Oldest daughter/son, Fleur and Blair kept their mother entertained and active during her short time in Sherwood Park. Fleur along with partner Stuart Brooks surprised Mom with a recent trip to Banff in September. Marnie is survived by her brother Frank Dowse, Winnipeg, MB, sister Monica (Sonny) Wong, Largo, FL; sons Blair Ankrom, Edmonton, AB, and Bruce (Carol) Ankrom, San Diego, CA; daughters Fleur Jamieson, Edmonton, AB, Michele (Robert) Turner, Titusville, FL, and Denise (Brendan) Lee, San Diego, CA; grandchildren Jennifer, Brent and Jessica; three precious great-grandchildren Jade, Jackson and Logan; nieces Tracy, Laurie, Marlene and Marnie; and nephews Douglas and Jamie. Mom, we love you so much. You are the best Mom. You are a beautiful woman. We cry for you. We smile with your memory. We laugh remembering good times shared and cherish the life you lived. We will always miss you for the rest of our lives. You will be in our hearts forever. Services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, AB. GLENWOOD FUNERAL HOME (780) 467-3337

My condolences on your loss. We were related by marriage, but not really sure how. My grandfather was Clarence Ankrom (Margaret) of Winnipeg and my dad was Ken Ankrom (Ruth) of Winnipeg. My dad died in 1996, my mom is still living. I'm working on our family tree and that's how I came across this obituary. - Posted by: Glenn Ankrom (Unsure) on: Jun 02, 2019

I'm deeply saddened to learn of Marnie's passing. Elizabeth and I have fond memories of Uncle Art, Auntie Doris, Marnie, Frank and Monica and all the great Christmas parties at 141 Monck and the summers at "Shay-Noo". - Posted by: Francis Trueman (Harry) (1st cousin) on: Mar 04, 2019
