WESLEY RAYMOND PACKHAM It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Wesley Raymond Packham of Oakville, MB, with his daughters by his side, on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Wes was predeceased by his first wife Maxine in 1988, and second wife Angela in 2013, along with his only sibling Eileen Barber in 1987. His memory will be lovingly remembered by daughters: Candace Packham and her sons, Reed and Brynn Beaudry; and Tanice Houston and her daughters, Candace (Andrew Ramage) and Carrie (Andrew Valgardson). Wes is also survived by Angela's daughters, Giselle, Nicole, Janet, Michelle and their families. Wes was born in Moosomin, Saskatchewan on June 2, 1930 to Annie and Fred Packham. He followed his forefathers' farming dreams, and his desire to be a self-made man brought him to Oakville thanks to Les and Dorothy Murray. He would always appreciate their efforts to support him as he struck out on his own. In addition to over 60 years of successful farming, he worked on construction projects including the Winnipeg Floodway and the Dempster and McKenzie Highways. A celebration of Wes's life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., at Knox United Church, 155 - 2nd St., Oakville, MB. We were blessed to have been able to spend Dad's last years with him. Special thanks to Dr. Quesada at the Portage Clinic, and Dr. Guzman at the St. Boniface Hospital for their efforts to ensure a continued quality of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Growing Support for Cancer, c/o CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160 - 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5. • Dear Family and Friends of Wesley, I offer my condolences to you on the passing of dear Wesley. I knew Wesley through my grandmother Ethel Petford, who was the sister to Wesley’s father Fred. So Wesley was my grandmother's nephew and my mother’s first cousin. I actually never met Fred as I think he passed before I was born, but I knew Wesley’s mother well. I called her Aunt Annie. Because of their proximity to Winnipeg, myself and my sisters had occasion to visit with Wesley and Angela from time to time; such a lovely loving couple was always our impression. I have a nephew who has a record of the Packham family history on ancestry.com. In case any relatives are interested about this information, feel free to contact me at wendy.scheirich@gmail.com. I am sorry that I can not attend the funeral as my husband and myself are in BC till the end of the month, but I will think of you all gathered in honour of Wesley’s on March 9th. - Posted by: Wendy Scheirich (Relative on the Packham side) on: Mar 06, 2019
