COLIN PEIRCE CORY 1928 - 2019 Softly in the morning you heard a gentle call you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all There are no words to express the loss we feel with the passing of Colin Cory, on January 24, 2019. He and his identical twin brother Keith were born May 8, 1928 on the family farm near Nesbitt, MB. He was a very humble person, full of love and compassion, and only saw the good in others. He cherished his family above all and was extremely proud of his two sons and their accomplishments. He was educated in Nesbitt and Wawanesa, MB before joining the Royal Bank. He moved to Vancouver in 1965 as regional claims manager with a large US insurance company. He had a passion for the outdoors and running, and could often be seen on the forest trails at U.B.C., the valley hills around Wawanesa and Miniota, MB, and even jogging during his many trips abroad - including on the steamy streets of Kuala Lumpur with his brother-in-law Ken Moffatt. One of his greatest joys was running with his brother Keith in the annual Winnipeg half-marathon, which they both ran until they were 81 years old and in which he won his age category several times. He also enjoyed supporting his granddaughters' many activities. He loved to read and listen to classical music. He had a love of driving trips and was proud of having driven over one million miles, a fact that brought a smile to his face even with advancing dementia. He was predeceased by his mother Eva and his father Bert, five sisters, seven brothers and their respective spouses, and also in-laws, Arthur and Helen Penelton of Winnipeg, and George and Doris Bruce of Miniota. He is survived by his wife Merl (nee Penelton), sons, Bob (Deborah) and Ross (Sheila), two granddaughters whom he adored, Melissa (Michael) and Julia, and a great-grandson Aurin, who unfortunately he never got to know, brother James (Jean) Cory of Brandon, MB, and brother-in-law Rev. Ken Moffatt of Thunder Bay, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. To honour his wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place, and his final resting place will be at Minnewawa Cemetery near Nesbitt. The Cory family would like to thank the staff of Floor #1 Purdy Pavilion for their kindness and compassion during the past two years.
