Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH JEAN (JOHN) GRENON September 22, 1929 - March 1, 2019 John was born in Winnipeg to Rachel and Omer Grenon. John was predeceased by his sister, Antoinette. He is survived by his wife, Joan, and his children: Shelley (Calvin), John-Paul, Jim (Candice), Cathy (Doug), Anthony (Sharon), Patti (Bill), Michelle (Don), Bernie (Toni) and Gerry (Alice). John was also blessed with 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. John attended St. Paul's College (high school/BA). He continued at the University of Manitoba (MA/B.Ed.). John was French-English bilingual. John loved teaching. He began his career in Flin Flon, then went on to St. James Collegiate, River East Collegiate, and finally Vincent Massey in Fort Garry. John loved bridge, curling, reading non-fiction, travel and driving, often on family trips (happily towing a large tent trailer). Family was important to John. He loved his wife and children and happily welcomed each new member as she/he joined the family. He enjoyed hearing about and watching as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren flourished. From his baptism to his reception of the Sacrament of The Sick, John's religion was part of who he was. The family is extremely grateful to the loyal companions who brightened John's final years when he was wheelchair-bound, and to the dedicated staffs at Tuxedo Villa and Grace Hospital. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should you wish to donate to a charity of your choice, the family thanks you. We are so sorry to hear about John's passing. Mr. Grenon was a regular part of both of our lives, growing up. Through Ron's friendship with Gerry and mine through Sunday services at St. Ignatius and family friendship we both remember him as always being welcoming, smiling and ready to talk. No matter what the subject was. Mrs. Grenon, Gerry and family, we thank you for allowing us to share in your love and fun with your Dad and husband. With our deepest sympathy, Ron & Jenn Pink - Posted by: Ron & Jenn Pink (Friends) on: Mar 12, 2019

John was one of the finest men we have ever met. We knew him over a period of more than a half a century and for us was a dear and close friend, a truly decent and highly principled person, a reliable person who could be counted on to give us sound advice. He was modest and unassuming but with a great heart and empathy. We shared an interest in Canadian history and in the curious political developments which arose from time to time. We had many interesting conversations and he was well-informed on a great variety of subjects. We were privileged and truly lucky to have him as a friend. - Posted by: Tom and Nydia Peterson (Friends) on: Mar 09, 2019
