ESTHER BORNN Esther Bornn, beloved wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt and friend, died on March 10, 2019 at Grace Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, John, and is survived by her children, Deb, Rick and Dave, and their families. John and Esther were married on the first day of summer in 1956, and their bond created a wonderful home; their legacy continues with their dear grandchildren, Gavin, Keenan, Liam and Siobhan (Deb; and their father Stu), Alyssa and Matthew (Rick and Nancy), and Robert (Dave and Sandra). Esther was born in Blumstein near Winkler on November 16, 1934, third youngest child of Helena Rempel and Jacob Reimer, part of a large family of 11 children. Esther and her four sisters were lifelong friends, and all the Reimer siblings stayed in close touch through a tradition of family gatherings started by their parents. Esther became a teacher in 1956; she had a long and fulfilling career as a primary teacher and reading specialist. Her love of learning and reading brought literacy and joy in learning to her many students. Right after Esther's graduation from Teacher's College and their wedding, Esther and John moved to Ontario, returning to Winnipeg in 1966 to raise their family in St. James. In that community, they made many friends and joined Bethel Baptist Church. Esther had a strong faith in God and lived according to her beliefs. Family, friends, education and faith have been the focus of Esther's life. Esther's family would like to thank the caring medical professionals who helped Esther over the past years, including her family doctor, Dr. Elin Bergman, Dr. Robert Kroeker and Dr. Jeffrey Barnes. A memorial service honouring Esther will be held at Bethel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Bethel Baptist Church or the Heart & Stroke Foundation may be made in Esther's memory. We love you forever, Mom.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)
Mrs. Bornn was my son's teacher at Linwood School. She came to our house just before Easter with a little basket for my son when he was home sick and showed such kindness to him. I have never forgot that and have spoken and thought of her over the years. So sorry to hear of her passing. To the family, you must be so proud of the wonderful woman she was. Sincerely, Mrs. G Taylor and son. - Posted by: Grace Taylor (Friend) on: Mar 18, 2019
Mrs. Bornn was my son's grade 2 teacher many many years ago when I was still a young and novice mother. She and Scott made a special connection in the classroom and she shared with me how they would look at each other on a point of humour when no one else in the classroom caught on - but they did. What a lovely memory. I've always had a special place in my heart for her for being such a caring and excellent teacher. Even running into her in a store was lovely. You were surely blessed. - Posted by: Jan Wiebe (Student's mother) on: Mar 14, 2019
Dear Deb, Rick and Dave, I am so sorry to hear that your mom is gone from you. We know she's in heaven. What a great reunion she must be having with your dad right now! (and my dad!) When I received your call, Deb, a flood of childhood memories of visits and camping trips brought tears and laughter. Your mom was such a wonderful, vivacious person. We will all miss her. Love Mel (and mom, Linda and Wendy) - Posted by: Melanie Telford (Bornn) (Niece) on: Mar 14, 2019
