JAMES RICHARD DUFF
Born: Jan 02, 1934
Date of Passing: Mar 25, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES RICHARD DUFF January 2, 1934 - March 25, 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jim Duff, loving father, grandfather, "papa" and friend. Jim is survived by his daughters, Cindy Brown and Irene Bolianaz, grandchildren, Jared (Kaitlin), Chandra (Jared), Chase and Danielle (Tyler) and his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Leighton and Isla. Also left to mourn, longtime companion Corrine, many good friends and his "favourite blonde" Gabby his Golden Retriever. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife of 45 years, Joyce, parents, John and Irene, brother Jack and son-in-law Dave Bolianaz. Jim was born and raised in Winnipeg where he began a lengthy career with CN Rail, where he retired as an air brake foreman in 1991. In 1954 Jim married Joyce and started a family. Jim, Joyce and their girls enjoyed travel, camping and exploring. Once the girls had families of their own they spent the summers together at the lake on Netley Creek and Grandpa Jim could always be found playing with the grandkids at the pool, the park or just simply entertaining them in the yard with a game or a joke (don't tell grandpa you're doing "good" unless you want to hear "good for what?") Jim was also very proud of his volunteer achievements with the Winnipeg Nomads Football Club and often told the family stories about his time there. After retiring Jim looked forward to attending his monthly CN pensioners' luncheons as well as spending many hours volunteering for the learn to read program at the local elementary school and jumping from rink to rink watching the grandkids play hockey or ringette. He also spent several years travelling the country with the trailer club making many new friends. Jim cherished his friendships and was especially close with the Molsons, spending time together at their home in Victoria, BC. The family wishes to thank Dr. M.B. MacMillan and Rhonda for their years of compassionate care. Per Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place, no service will be held, a private family interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada.

I have many fond memories of spending time with Uncle Jim at my grandparents and at his home. He was always a lover of dogs, and I recall his poodles and German shepherds. My condolences to Cindy and Irene and families. - Posted by: Heather rodger (Niece) on: Mar 30, 2019

So sad to hear of Jim's passing. I had heard through the grapevine that he was ill. Although I hadn't seen him in many years I thought of him often. He was always a happy smiling person with positive things to say. He would drop by occasionally after working the night shift to say hello to his sister Isabel as we lived close to Symington yards. Condolences to his children grandchildren and great grandchildren and to his long time friend Corrine( I think) have never met her. We spent some christmas' gatherings together years ago and those memories are cherished as well as some of the great times we had at Ingolf Ontario where Jim spent alot of time as a young man. I have these memories to cherish! - Posted by: Dean Bull (Nephew) on: Mar 30, 2019
