Karl Latschislaw passed away suddenly on April 3, 2019, at the age of 75.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Janice, of 32 years, son Jason, daughter Marcella (Joel Lemoine), his grandchildren, nephews, nieces, numerous brothers and sisters-in-laws, his cousins, and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, and sisters.
Karl was born on May 17, 1943 in Vertbirgen, Poland. After surviving the Second World War, he moved to Canada with his Mom and two brothers in June 1949 at the age of six. His mom married and the family moved to Ridgeville, Manitoba where they farmed.
In 1962, at the age of 19, he moved to the big city of Winnipeg. He lived briefly in Edmonton, but came back home to Winnipeg. He had many different jobs but finally settled at Unisource Papers in 1979. He retired in 2007 after 28 years of service.
Since Mom retired, Mom and Dad were always together. They spent their days at the Reh-Fit Centre, the Grant Park Mall with their coffee group, their church, and they spent as much time with their grandkids as possible, following them to whichever sport they were doing to watch them and cheer them on. To Dad his family was his world, and he loved them very much, always there to give them a hug and to tell them how much he loved them.
Last fall, Dad got sick, and we found out he had colon cancer. He fought his way back from the cancer and was fully recovered, back to his healthy, happy self. We were very blessed to have had the last seven months with Dad, to see him smile, tell a corny joke, to have him hug us and tell us one more time how much he loved us.
The funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 1311 Dakota Street, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, or to the Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
