NEVONE MARGARET GRAHAM
(nee HOUCK)
August 23, 1920 - April 8, 2019
Nevone was the only child of Mary (nee McLachlan) and John Nicholas Houck. She was born on August 23, 1920 at the family farm, Section 16 E., Half Township 4, Range 19, near Boissevain, MB with Dr. Fredrick Bird attending.
Nevone attended East Lynne School from grades 1 to 8 and would often ride her horse named "Doll" to school. Nevone attended Boissevain High School from grades 9 to 12. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brandon College in 1942. Nevone graduated from Winnipeg General School of Nursing in 1946.
Nevone nursed at Morden Hospital from 1946 to 1948. On October 8, 1948 Nevone married Robert "Bud" Graham. They had three children, Robert, Mary and Thomas. After her children reached school age, Nevone resumed her career and taught at Misericordia School of Nursing for 21 years, retiring on July 1, 1982. She was proud of her nursing students and was grateful to work for Mother St. Odilon, Director of Misericordia School of Nursing.
Nevone and her husband Bud were married for 40 years until his passing in 1988. Nevone is survived and deeply missed by daughter, Mary Graham-Stiny and late husband Herbert Stiny; and two sons, Robert and late wife Wendy; and Thomas and wife Yolanda. Grandma Nevone will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Laura and husband Casey Fox, Jeffrey Graham, Sarah Nevone-Stiny, Colton Graham; and two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Lincoln Fox.
Nevone loved shopping and travel, especially when visiting her daughter Mary and granddaughter Sarah in Europe. She enjoyed her flowers and backyard at the family home in Fort Garry. Nevone was independent and a lifelong learner. She was still quoting Shakespeare just weeks before her death. Nevone was a bird watcher and an avid reader. She enjoyed many things but what she loved most was her family.
Thank you to all of the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their dedication, compassion and kindness.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

As I am just now learning after the first anniversary of Nevone Graham's death, I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to all her family. She certainly was a wonderful person who I only on occasion spoke to over the telephone but never personally meet. May your family know that as little as I knew your family I felt a strong connection through Mary. I have tried unsuccessfully to be in touch with Mary who was a long time friend but unfortunately lost complete communication with. The last news was she worked in Monico and Milan, Italy and owned a place in France. If any family member reading my message would communicate to me her whereabouts I would appreciate immensely. Loosing touch with Mary has often played on my mind as to her well being. She was a dear friend. My email is cam_karma@ hotmail.com if anyone can provide some news or possibly forward her the information I would be grateful. My sincerest thoughts to all of you and wish your family well. Sincerely, Camille Hansen-Apsesteguy - Posted by: Camille Hansen Apesteguy (Friend to daughter Mary Graham Stiny) on: May 25, 2020
