Passed March 31, 2019
Jack leaves behind the love of his life forever, 55 years, Maureen; daughter Debbie, husband Kai and grandchildren, Jack and James; son Kelly, wife Janna and grandchildren, Peyton and Jordyn, and a long list of loving family and friends. Also, sister Karen, brother Randy and their families, sisters-in-law, Helen and Leslie and their families.
In the fall of 2017, Jack realized his lifelong dream of moving home to Manitoba. Jack's final year was spent boating from his own dock in the creeks of Miklavik, watching the airplanes soar over Lake Winnipeg and visiting his beloved family cottage on Chalet Beach.
His many incredible stories will be missed by all, and Grandpa/Papa will always be the smartest star in the sky in his grandkids eyes.
At Jack's request, a Celebration of Life will take place in July on Jack and Maureen's Miklavik, Gimli property. Date to be announced. In honour of Jack, take a moment to look up to the sky and find any airplane soaring above and smile. He is up there with all of the airplanes he loved so much.
Jack will join his mom (Mable), dad (Harvey) and brother (Keith) at the St. Georges Wakefield Anglican Church in Petersfield, Manitoba.
Thank you to the CancerCare Manitoba teams, doctors and staff for your incredible support to Jack and our family.
In lieu of flowers, donations for Gimli Hospital will be collected at the celebration.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)
Maurena and I would like to express our deepest sympathies to Maureen and family on the passing of Jack, our family Patriarch. Jack or Jake as we called him was our 'Fonzie' growing up. He seemed to be able to control almost any situation and showed little fear even at the most fearful of times. Eg: The Matlock Incident... Jack was the first of us to reach rites of passage and as younger cousins, we watched with envy waiting for our day to come. Jack and Keith had more red 'first' ribbons for running events than most sprint clubs combined. The display boards at the Lake were testament their athletic abilities. Jack was born with an alertness that served him well in life. I will always remember hunting ducks and geese with Jack and a group of others at Netley Marsh and as the bunch of us approached the car we emptied our shot guns and talked about the hunt. Except Jack. He broke his barrel for safety and just as we got to the car a prairie chicken took off directly in front of us. We stood there with a dumbstruck look on our faces while Jack simply closed the barrel and pulled off the best hip shot my brother John and I had ever witnessed! Picking up the chicken he looked at both my brother and I and said, " Did ya learn anything here?" No wonder Jack was our hero! In more recent years it was wonderful to introduce Maurena to Jack and his family at our Family Reunions. Maurena loved Jack's wit. John and I had the fortune to visit Jack early January this year. We are so very grateful for being able to share our feelings with Jack and to let him know how much he was loved by us. Rest well Jack. You deserve it! Condolences to all family and friends of Jack. He was a wonderful man, we had the opportunity to see him at the Crerar family reunions. Very kind, and had some great stories. Rest easy Jack. - Posted by: Chris, Kerrie(Crerar) and Keris Light (cousin) on: Apr 17, 2019
My cousin Jack was my first real life hero. He could run faster than a deer and was kind and gentle to all of us younger ones. Later in life we continued our close relationship but the difference in years faded away. Words are truly inadequate to express the love and appreciation I have for Jack. My brother Tom and I were blessed to have had a great visit in January. Jack, now you run like an angel. Heartfelt condolences to all our family- Love John and Blanche - Posted by: John Crerar (Cousin) on: Apr 17, 2019

Condolences to all on the passing of Jack. I have many memories of Jack and Maureen at family gatherings from the beach in Manitoba to hanging out at the motorhome surrounded by family. I will look for an airplane Jack. - Posted by: Kyra Garson (some kind of cousin) on: Apr 13, 2019
Life moves quickly and takes on many journeys but the passing of someone who has been in our life forever takes us back to childhood days. Jack had wings on his feet, enthusiasm for adventures and a cheeky grin. He was my buddy challenging me to run faster and swim further. Thank you Jack for the smiles those memories bring. To those of you who were close in these last years remember the grin and the dry wit. There is comfort there. - Posted by: Mary Jordan (Cousin) on: Apr 13, 2019
