Condolences & Memories (2 entries)
I met Art at Sam Southern Arena in the 1980s. First time I met Art I said hi how are you and his standard reply which continued every Friday night for years was "pretty F'n average" The echo heard around the world was when we moved our Friday night hockey to River Heights arena and "Artie" stepped on a stick and went ass over tea kettle and landed on his head...out cold! He came to and we escorted him to the penalty box for a "time out" and eventually he made his way to the dressing room after he sent the paramedics on their way. After the skate we all made our way to the dressing room to find Artie sucking back a Coors extra gold! Awesome guy, rest in peace Love your buddies Doc, Sandy, Grubby, Syl, Roberto and Jeff..ie. - Posted by: Dave "Doc" Gillis (Friend) on: May 03, 2019
Sorry to hear the news. I had played a lot of hockey with him over the years and will truly miss him. One memory is back 40 years ago I had asked him to play in a full contact hockey tournament in Lac Du Bonnet with some friends of mine. First game was Saturday 8:30 AM. We got there early, walked into the room and guys were still drinking from the night before. We looked at each other and he said this is my kind of a team. That was awesome comment and we went on to win the B side. That is a memory I still talk about to this day. RIP Art I will never forget you - Posted by: Bob Brambilla (Friend) on: Apr 22, 2019
