JOYCE KATHLEEN MCEWAN
(nee PEPPER)
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Gordon on November 18, 2010, and later by her sister Kay, and brother Billie.
Mom is survived by her children, Brian, Dayle, Donnie, and their families.
Mom's family was her life. She was extremely proud of her three grandsons and three great-granddaughters who she held close to her heart.
Joyce grew up in Elmwood and later lived in East and North Kildonan. Many happy years were spent at the cottage at Nutimik Lake. Mom loved to travel to Hawaii, Portugal and Palm Springs to name a few. She also like to take bus excursions. As a big sports fan, Mom loved watching and talking about the Jets, Bombers and curling.
Our home was always filled with home made baked goodies and knitted slippers.
Mom lived at Vista Park Lodge for the last two years where she made many good friends.
A special thank you to the staff for their excellent care, kindness and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. As per Mom's wishes there will be no service. Our family will remember Mom in our own private way.
We can shed tears because she is
gone (and we did), but now we
are going to do what she wants:
Smile, Be Happy, Love and Go On.
Mom, you are already missed.

To McEwan Family, After reading Joyce's obituary in Saturdays Free Press, I reflected on my memory of Joyce and your family events. I last saw Joyce at Millie's memorial event and had dinner at your mom's apartment. I recall Joyce's cooking technique of basting her turkey with a shot of rum which we follow at our turkey dinners including Easter this weekend. Please accept our sympathy in the passing of your mom.
