After a long and eventful life, Florence passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Seven Oaks Hospital.
She is survived by her sister Ruth Hergesheimer, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son Greg Beaumont, husband Cliff Steffenson, parents, Charles and Katherine Appler, sister Adeline Scott, and brothers-in-law, John Scott and Walter Hergesheimer.
Florence was born Ellen Florence Appler, on September 25, 1925 in her Winnipeg family home on Manitoba Avenue. She spent many happy years in the newly developing North End and the family would often walk up to Main Street for a bag of chips at the Kelekis Chip Wagon. She cherished the times she spent with her grandparents at their blacksmith shop in Steinbach and with the many aunts and uncles from the surrounding Steinbach area. In 1949 the family moved from the North End to a home in East Kildonan.
In her early adult years, she lived in Denver, Minneapolis and Oakland before settling back in Winnipeg to raise her son Greg. She spent 31 years employed by Eatons in the Head Cash Office.
She had a very strong Christian faith that comforted her in the loss of her son and husband. Her faith was nurtured by her parents and continued throughout the years as a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the fellowship of volunteering in the church kitchen preparing and serving at receptions for funerals.
Auntie Florence, we are comforted knowing that you are reunited with Greg and Cliff.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue, with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence's name can be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

So generously lent to us
To make us love and smile
Now silently you'll walk with us
Mile after Mile
Your task on earth was not in vain
For everything we do,
Our love and laughter will go on,
In loving memories of you.
