JUNE BENEDICT (FERGUSON)
Date of Passing: Apr 13, 2019Offer Condolences or Memory
1932 - 2019
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Jack; Mrs. June; daughter Rennie (Roman); brothers, Guy (Judy), Neil (Carol), and James (Ursula).
Auntie June always made her nieces and nephews feel special and enjoyed following their many activities over the years.
June was predeceased by her father John, mother Marjorie, and daughter Deirdre.
June was born, raised and educated in St. James. She attended University of Manitoba and graduated with a degree in Home Economics (Dietetics). June would further her education by completing a dietetic internship in Minneapolis. She was very proud to be the first member of her family to graduate from university. June was particularly fond of animals and over the years she tended to many wounded creatures, both wild and domestic, nursing them back to health. She adopted and cared for both dogs and cats until her health would no longer allow her to love them the way only she could. June enjoyed living near Bruce and Assiniboine Parks, where she could walk her beloved dogs, among them Honey, Diamond and Trisha.
June's pride and joy was raising her two daughters. Once her daughters were grown and had flown the coop, she and Jack fulfilled their dream of living on Vancouver Island. She loved living near water and their first house on Vancouver Island was in Bowser overlooking the ocean. June often enjoyed her morning coffee on the deck or in the family room admiring the ocean as only a prairie girl could.
As June's health began to fail, she and Jack wanted nothing more than to move back to Winnipeg so that they could be near their daughters. Once in Winnipeg, June enjoyed spending quality time with her girls. She was a wonderful, devoted mother who taught her daughters to be loving and compassionate to all.
In respecting June's wishes, a private family funeral service will be held with burial to follow.
Donations in memory of June may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Sincere condolences on the loss of your wife, Mr. Benedict. My mother, Jean Thiessen, passed on April 12, 2015. She always spoke so highly of you and Mr. Riley and the executive at the Tanners. Our loss was very great as must be yours. May you hold sweet memories close to your heat as do Jarrett and I. - Posted by: Lana Thiessen- Storey (Dominion Tanners daughter) on: Apr 20, 2019
