It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Frances Dutka on April 15, 2019, in her 88th year, peacefully, at the Fred Douglas Lodge in Winnipeg.
Predeceased by her loving husband William (Bill) Dutka; her parents, Roman and Mary Nimchuk; sisters, Ustina, Lily and Olivia; and brothers, Dennis, Michael, and Henry.
Fondly and lovingly remembered by her niece Jacqueline (Claude) of Winnipeg and her nephew Michael of Brantford, Ontario, as well as many more nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, family and friends.
Frances was born on May 11, 1931 and grew up on the family farm near Hazelridge Manitoba. She attended Hazelridge School. She met the love of her life William (Bill) and they married on July 29, 1950. They shared 58 beautiful years together as husband and wife, many of them residing in Grosse Isle, Manitoba before retiring in Winnipeg.
Frances was brought up in her Ukrainian roots, with its culture and traditions. She had many interests and hobbies, one passion and talent was being an artist. Frances studied art under the instruction and guidance of many artists portraying Manitoba in many mediums. One of her paintings (In the Mood) of a male Ukrainian dancer is at the Canadian Museum of History in Ottawa and another painting (Apselund) is part of the Manitoba Provincial Art Collection.
Frances was a compassionate, caring and kind person with everyone that met her. She will be missed.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Fred Douglas Lodge for their support and kindness during her stay there.
A private family memorial will held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery.
