ROBERTA SHORT

Peacefully at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 65, Roberta Short, devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother and Baba, passed away on March 25, 2019.
She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter Alissa (Trevor), grandsons, Braydon and Ashton, partner Shane, brother David, niece Hadera, and nephew Jeremy. She was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Beatrice Short, and brother Arthur.
Roberta was a very warm and loving person, with many friends in her social circle. She was a true friend in every sense, always loyal, kind and compassionate. She loved her friends and family more than anything in the world.
Roberta grew up with a passion for music, especially singing. She loved all performing arts. In her later years, Roberta went back to school to become an EAL teacher. She loved helping newcomers learn English.
Without a doubt, Roberta's greatest joys in life were her grandchildren.
A special thanks to all of her loyal friends, especially Susan and Lynn, as well as the staff at Riverview Health Centre and at CancerCare Manitoba.
Funeral services took place at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on March 28, 2019, with interment taking place at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery.
Donations in Roberta's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am heartbroken at the loss of Roberta. She and I were childhood lifelong friends, meeting as neighbours on Niagara Street, at ages 4 & 5, with our parents also being very connected through the years. Roberta was like the rolodex of Winnipeg--she seemed to know everyone. She faced her physical challenges in the latter part of her life with amazing openness, and never hesitated to say "I love you." My heart goes out to Alissa, David, and Shane, and the joys of her life, Braydon and Ashton. How she loved being a Baba. May her memory be a blessing. - Posted by: Enid Barnes (Childhood friend) on: Apr 21, 2019
