Date of Passing: Apr 15, 2019Offer Condolences or Memory
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Jean Baptiste and Madeline; sisters, Melanie, Rose, Violet, Olvine and Linda; brothers, Robert, Stanley, Joseph, and Lawrence.
Left to hold her memory dear is her daughter Claudette (Richard); sisters, Rita, Geraldine and Norma; her niece Marlene (Dan) with whom she shared a very special bond; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mom was born on August 9, 1948 in Camperville, MB. She moved to Winnipeg in her late teens to start her new life in the big city. She started out with various jobs that helped build her skills and not long after she began her career as a human resource officer within different levels of government. Her work was extremely important to her and was very proud of her career and it showed through her dedication right up until her recent retirement after 30 plus years. She made many friends throughout those years with whom she made an effort to always keep in touch.
She had an amazing sense of humour, was kind and generous and could always be counted on to be there for someone in need. Along with many hobbies, her travels around the world before and after retirement were definite highlights of her life.
Her daughter and son-in-law, would like to thank all the staff at the St Boniface Hospital, who ensured the palliative care she received was with dignity and comfort.
As per Jean's wishes, cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at the Canad Inns Club Regent Hotel at 1415 Regent Avenue West.
A private interment will be held later this summer.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)
Sincere condolences to all of Jean's loved ones during this time of heart break. I had the privilege of sharing a portion of this Life's Journey with Jean while working together at Manitoba Highways for many years. We shared a common connection - both being from "the country", from the same part of the province and joked about maybe being related (via the Mckay family). She was full of amazing "spunk"; was a force to be reckoned with and brilliant at what she did for many people. Her laughter was contagious and one of a kind. She will be missed by many. May she rest in peace and may all fond memories of her bring comfort to your hearts. - Posted by: Colette Delaurier (Co-Worker) on: Apr 27, 2019
I and my management and staff had the privilege of working with Jean after her retirement as she obviously still wanted to work with people and offer her many years of experience to her chosen field of HR. Jean was the head of our HR department at the Marlborough Hotel and we enjoyed her time with us and contribution she provided during her tenure. She will be dearly missed and on behalf of my management and staff and my wife I would like to offer our heart felt condolences to her family this came as a shock and we are truly mourning her passing as she became part of our family. - Posted by: Manfred Boehm (co-worker) on: Apr 25, 2019

Jean thank you for all the memories, and support you always provided, your smile and laugh will be missed, but kept in our memories and our hearts. My sincere condolences goes out to the family during this difficult time. - Posted by: Maria Fontaine (Co-worker) on: Apr 24, 2019

Jean was always someone who could put a smile on my face with with her quick wit. Always loved listening to her perspective on work issues. She was a vibrant lady who I will miss. To Jean’s family, please accept my condolences for you loss. Cherish all the great memories you were able to make with her. A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on. - Posted by: Rob Starodub (Co worker) on: Apr 20, 2019
