GRAHAM BANNATYNE
Left to lovingly remember him are his daughter Linda Pashniak (widow of Dave Pashniak), son Stephen (Jean), grandson Scott (great-grandson Graham), grandson Stewart (Jaclyn), brother Barry (Barbara) and their daughters, Sandra and Sharon, niece Susan Bannatyne, nephew Scott Bannatyne, sisters-in-law, Mary Southon and Rose Thompson and the many dear nieces and nephews of the large, extended Thompson clan. Recently Graham was able to connect with family and friends in Thunder Bay. It was a very special time for him.
Graham was a remarkable man with many talents, and even though he was deaf, his disability did not deter him. He always displayed a healthy interest and opinions on current affairs. His memory was outstanding and he loved to recall stories and anecdotes from his life. He had a passion for golf and was a longstanding member of both Rossmere and Elmhurst, where he had many friends. Graham and Lynn loved their frequent trips to Hawaii with family and friends, where he was able to play some of the beautiful courses on Oahu and Maui. Linda and Dave accompanied them on a number of those vacations. In his later years, Dad joined Steve and Jean in Arizona for his winter vacations and, of course, golf was on the agenda! He loved the desert.
Following his retirement, Dad took up painting and he proved to be a talented artist. He painted and drew in all mediums. His art is proudly on display in the homes of family and friends. He is fondly remembered through his art. Dad was always proud of the family home in North Kildonan that he and Mom built in 1959. We have many happy memories of family dinners that took place in their home.
Graham will be interred in the family plot at St. John's Cathedral beside his beloved Lynn. A reception will be held later this summer to allow his family and friends to celebrate together the wonderful life he lived.
Flowers are gratefully declined and in lieu, donations may be made to the Deaf Centre Manitoba in care of Manitoba Cultural Society of the Deaf, 285 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2E1.

Many, many years ago I was a young teen-aged member at Rossmere trying to learn the game of golf. Every so often, usually in the evening, I would get paired with Mr. Bannatyne. Our goals in playing were the same: enjoy the weather, the course and each other’s company and try to find the secret to improving our games. I always left the course appreciating the time I spent with him. Thanks for the memories Mr. Bannatyne. - Posted by: Greg Sawatzky (Fellow golfer) on: May 08, 2019

We will really miss our dear uncle Graham. He always took delight in our big gang of cousins which often overflowed his house, especially as he brought home the very first TV in the neighbourhood. He was an impressive man, who in spite of challenging difficulties made a great life for his family. I will treasure my talks with him about golf, art and travels abroad. A life so well lived. Graham was my branch manager over 40 years ago, when I as a very young "wet behind the ears" newly promoted manager under him. The guidance and instruction he gave me, made me the man I am today. When I encountered a situation, good or bad, he cared enough to always have the time for me to discuss it, no matter when, and make many suggestions to me from his life experiences. The most memorable times were in his office when you didn't follow his business "suggestions" to a "T" and then heard the receptionist say "Mr. Bannatyne would like to see you in his office- NOW!" Knees knocking, I went. That's where my best life lessons were learned. I would sit in front of his desk, scared. The silence was deafening. He would clean his glasses and put them back on, lean back, turn his hearing aid up until it made the little squeal, then, taking off his glasses with both hands and slowly placed them on the desk in front of him and gradually leaned forward. The stage was set. He laid down the law in a fair and righteous way that got the message across loud and clear. Then on my way out of his office, when he thought I wasn't looking, that's when I saw that twinkle in his eyes knowing I had Finally Gotten the message. God Bless Him for taking the time to teach me those lessons. His way of developing my management style as stayed with me to this day. I still ask myself, "How would Graham handle it?" I can never thank him enough. He will always have a special place in my heart. My sympathies to his family and I know that Graham has a special place with God. He truly was a Very Great, Kind, and Caring Man and it always showed. - Posted by: Maurice DePiero (former employee ) on: May 04, 2019

I remember Graham from the 1960's. He was a salesman and visited our family furniture store in North Kildonan on Henderson Highway many times to present new products. Graham was a friendly and honest person, always had encouraging words to share, a great sense of humor and always smiling. My condolences to the entire family....John Wiebe (now residing in Kelowna, BC) - Posted by: John Wiebe (Busines Associate) on: May 04, 2019

Uncle Graham was always kind and loving with me and my siblings and cousins. When I was little we'd all spend time together at Christmas and special holidays, and such warm memories helped shape our family's ongoing togetherness. I didn't see uncle Graham as much in recent years but will always hold him in my heart with gratitude. - Posted by: Sheila Southon (Niece) on: Apr 24, 2019
