JACK (JOHN) MCDOWELL

Suddenly on April 25, 2019 at his cottage in Ponemah, Jack passed away peacefully.
Jack is survived by his loving husband Ian Livingstone; daughter Nancy McDowell-Kok; her husband Dave and their children, Steven and Sarah; Ian's daughter Sheila Kellington, her husband Earl and their son James. He will be missed by many friends and extended family as well.
Jack had several positions in his career, finally retiring from the federal government after 28 years of service. Music was very important to Jack. He sang for 37 years with the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A (Barbershop Harmony Society) and then with the Bison's Men's Chorus for 27 years. He most recently enjoyed singing with the Alleluia Singers from Crescent Fort Rouge United Church.
Jack and Ian loved to travel; in their 29 years together they took over 60 trips and had just returned from Florida. Their favourite destinations were Hawaii, Florida and England.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, 525 Wardlaw Ave. with reception to follow. A private family interment will be held prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Elevator Fund at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Uncle Ian, the sudden loss of Jack has been devastating for you and all of us so fortunate to have had Jack in our lives. We always enjoyed having "the boys" over for dinner parties. Having you both over was always a pleasure, we got to bring out the good china and make a beautiful meal! Jack's stories, and learning about history was most fascinating. We miss him dearly. You are truly blessed to have so many friends, and family to lean on for strength in the coming days. The journey ahead will be difficult, may you find peace in all the beautiful memories made together. Hugs and love! - Posted by: Denise and Jill "the girls" (Nieces) on: May 09, 2019
