DUNCAN NELSON CARMICHAEL
March 28, 1964 - April 29, 2019
Duncan is survived by his mother Loraine, her partner Leslie Kozak, loving brother Ian (Stephanie); niece Alexis Carmichael and nephew Andrew Carmichael. He is also survived by numerous aunts; uncle Grant (Kym) Keith; numerous cousins and special, long time friend Tony (Tracy) Terazakis, and long time employee Jo-Anne van der Krabben.
Duncan was predeceased by his father Terry Carmichael; great-grandfather Angus Carmichael (Mayor of Kenora 1908); grandfather George (Dode) Carmichael (Mayor of Kenora 1948 to 1951); aunt Nancy McEown; uncle Dixon Carmichael; grandfather Jack Keith; grandmother Ann Keith; uncle Myr Harvey; and cousins, Duncan McEown and Heather Kushner.
Duncan was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB and spent his childhood enjoying soccer and hockey, but his greatest love was spending vacations and weekends at the family camp on Lake of the Woods. He owned a Waste Oil Heating business in Winnipeg until he found a career in Real Estate in Kenora. He established Duncan Carmichael Real Estate Broker, dedicated to Lakefront Property Sales, 26 years ago. His personal approach to sales created many long lasting friendships with many clients. He was always willing to help others enjoy life on the lake. Duncan loved working outdoors, family gatherings, golf, fishing, swimming and travelling on the lake by boat, seadoo, airboat or skidoo. Duncan belonged to the Kenora Rotary Club, Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club and supported many businesses in the Kenora area. Duncan was a loving son and brother who will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Duncan's life will be held on the lake, at the lake on July 21, 2019. Location to be announced at a later date.
The family would like to thank the Kenora Paramedics, O.P.P., and Lake of the Woods Emergency Department for their care and compassion.
In honour of Duncan, donations to one's charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
