LAWRENCE CEDRIC WILLIAM OUTHWAITE
1926 - 2019
Left to cherish Lawrence's memory are his children, Doug (Janet), Wayne (Krista), Dave (Romana), Lois, Ian (Arlene) and Kim (Ray Wade); grandchildren, Ross, Kevin, Jennifer, Melanie, Kathryn, Will, Denise, Brandon, Cameron, Josh, Matt, Jared, Cassandra and Brittney; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Helen Outhwaite, Sharon Jarvis, Judy Jarvis and Sharon Jarvis; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mabel in 2008; his parents, Albert and Lillian Outhwaite; siblings, Tom, Irene, George, Ray and Marion; Mabel's parents, William and Hazel Jarvis; and her siblings.
Lawrence was born October 16, 1926. He grew up on the family farm near Pratt, Manitoba. In 1948, Lawrence and Mabel were married and moved to Brandon where they began to raise their family. Lawrence embarked on a career that would lead to him becoming a Journeyman Welder and Machinist. In 1965, they relocated their family to Winnipeg. Lawrence was employed at Stony Mountain Institution, first as a Welding Instructor, advancing to Plant Superintendent before retiring in 1988. His interests included home renovations, woodworking and automotive repair. Lawrence and Mabel had the opportunity to travel extensively in early retirement. Throughout his lifetime, Lawrence valued and exemplified the importance of family.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019, 2:00 p.m., at Carberry Plains Cemetery, Carberry, MB, with Rev. Don McIntyre officiating.
Our family wishes to express gratitude to the staff at Golden West Lodge, Lawrence's home for nearly four years, for their ongoing care and compassion.
