JANICE LOUISE FERNIE
(nee SNIDER)
Janice was predeceased by her husband Bill, and her parents, Mildred and Gordon Snider. She leaves to mourn her son Michael, his wife Amber, and her grandchildren, Hudson and Julia. She was incredibly close to her sister Valerie, her brother-in law Drew, and their family.
Janice was born in the early 1950s, and grew up on Arlington Street. She spent much of her childhood at the cabin in Matlock, going to the beach, reading in the screened porch, or hanging out with friends. An avid reader, Janice began working at the Winnipeg Public Library in her late 20s. She worked in the picture books collection and especially loved story time with the younger children.
Janice was an avid gardener. She spent many hours perfecting her flower beds and digging in the dirt. She found peace sitting in her garden with a good mystery novel and a cool drink. Janice was a wonderful mother and a devoted grandmother. She was always ready for a family dinner, or a game of 'Sorry' with the grandchildren. She always played with the red pieces because she believed they brought her extra luck.
Although Janice was often quiet and introspective, she could be quite stubborn as well as humorous. She was incredibly generous. She was always a good listener and a caring soul. Janice faced many hardships in the last number of years, and she faced them all with plenty of bravery. Janice had a number of faithful and loving friends in her life, and the family would like to thank them all for helping to support and care for her in her final years.
In accordance with Janice's wishes, a small, private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
