1934 - 2019

This is the story of an amazing woman who always seemed ahead of her time. She was a wife, a mother and a homemaker; but she was also a decorator, an administrator and a wildly successful Real Estate Agent.
Pearl was born in Gimli Manitoba on August 31, 1934 to parents, Denis Lee and Seselja (Goodman) Lee - the youngest of four children with an older sister Margaret and two brothers, Goodie and Harvey.
Being a prairie girl in a town that hosted the Commonwealth Air Training Program, she had a thing for pilots and married flight Lieutenant Gerry Langen in 1958. Together they traveled to Air Force Stations in Chatham, NB, Zweibrücken, Germany, Metz, France, then back to Canada again to North Bay, ON and Bagotville, QC, they finally landed in Winnipeg in 1966 in a comfortable two story home in Westwood. Europe presented the opportunity to travel Denmark, Sweden, Holland, the Coast of Spain, Germany, Austria and Italy (with Venice being her personal favourite). Europe was also where Peal discovered that "gas-o-line" was meant for motor bikes and not cars.
This love of travel would last a lifetime with trips to California up until just a few years ago.
During those early years of travel and adventure Pearl supported Gerry's military career and focused on building homes in new locals for her three children, Terie, David and Geof.
In 1972 she was looking for her own career and completed the 10 month stenography course at RRCC. She found employment at St. James High School in the administrative staff, where she made lifelong friends. A few years later, on a dare, she took a realtors course at the WREB, she passed and found employment with Mackague Sigmar, and then Block Brothers and finally joined with the then new kids in town RE/MAX Realty. It is fair to say that Pearl took to real estate and her forthright, honest and caring manner was greatly appreciated by clients and colleagues alike. In 1989 Pearl was awarded the "#1 sales Associate in Manitoba", in 1990 she was a member of the RE/MAX 100% club, this was followed by the RE/MAX Hall of Fame Award in 1990 and the RE/MAX Platinum Club in 1996.
It wasn't all work, she would travel her whole life and took up golf. In 1994 she was awarded - at a SPAADS (Saber Pilots) reunion - the "Ladies low score", and at Breezy Bend Golf Course she was the first player to make a hole-in-one on the newly redesigned 13th Hole. For the past decade she and Gerry have been spending part of the winter in Palm Springs or Oceanside California.
A friend and colleague said of her, "that she was one of those women born in the 1930s who didn't call themselves a feminist but lived those values every single day. Strong, determined and believing that the world can change for the better."
She passed peacefully at Grace Hospital survived by her loving husband Gerry Langen, son David Langen and wife Deb Langen, and son Geof Langen and husband Kevin Maguire; she was predeceased by her daughter Terie.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all those, especially the nurses and home care workers, who have helped with the journey of the last two years and very cruel challenges of a disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy - which none of us had heard of before.

"May we all live as well and pass as
peacefully, surrounded by kindness and love."

Cremation has taken place; a short come and go remembrance will be held Thursday May 30 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave.
The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Way of Winnipeg or the charity of your choice.
