MARY DEMEYER
(STUBBE)
July 4, 1926 - May 21, 2019

Surrounded by her loving family, Mary DeMeyer passed away May 21, 2019 at the age of 92. Mary was a devoted wife, an extraordinary mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, and aunt. Mary believed the love of family is life's greatest blessing. She was our rock.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her children, Renee DeMeyer Mesman (Hubert), Jo-Anne Ferrier, Elaine Buchanan, and Raymond DeMeyer (Roxanne); grandchildren, Devon Ostir (Grant), Sean Buchanan (Nicole), Riley DeMeyer (Bailey), and Roanan DeMeyer, great-grandchildren, Keaton, Hayden, Sydney, Charley, and Pete; sisters, Rachel Remillard, Edna Tremblay, Bernice Twerdun, and Diane Lamontagne (Ron); brother-in-law Michael Baron, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
For 60 years, Mary was happily married to Rene, who passed away in 2008. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Sylvie and Ernest Stubbe, who emigrated from Belgium. She was also predeceased by her brothers, William Stubbe and L. Valere Stubbe; sisters, Georgette Hoger, Elsie Baron and Alice Baribeau; her son-in-law Vic Ferrier; sisters and brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, great- nephews, and a great-niece.
As a second generation Canadian, Mary remained proud of her Flemish Belgian heritage. She was a lifelong member of the Belgian Club and President of the Seniors Club for 18 years.
Mary was born and raised in St. Boniface before moving to Windsor Park for 50 years. In her early years, she worked at Jeanne's and Eaton's Bakeshops decorating wedding cakes and making delicious pastries. She continued baking amazing desserts till she was 90. After marrying and starting a family, Mary worked at home raising her family, sewing, knitting, and cultivating vegetable and flower gardens. Above all, Mary had a special place in her heart for those in need. Her generosity and acts of kindness were never ending.
Mary's family sincerely thanks the many dedicated caregivers at Riverwood Square and the Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home for their support since 2017. Thanks also to Drs. Philippe Erhard and Frederic Ball, for their kind and competent medical care. We are grateful to the close family and friends who visited and wrote to Mary during her final years.
A private family celebration of Mary's life and interment will take place at Glen Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
