BERNARD (BERNIE) DOLLARD NICHOLS
Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Barbara. He is also survived by his three children, Justine of Toronto, ON, Jeff (Renee) of Winnipeg, MB and Brad of Vancouver, BC.
Also left to remember him are his three stepchildren, Jennifer Tiller of Stonewall, MB (Allen Blackbird); Glenn Tiller (Florence) of Corpus Christi, TX and their son Jose; and Suzanne Lafleur (Patrick) and their three children, Lauren, Charlie and Brooke of North Lancaster, ON. They all loved and admired him and he loved them in return.
He was predeceased by his brothers, George and Edward; sister-in-law Laurie; and sister Eleanor.
Bernie was born on February 26, 1928 and grew up in the north end of Winnipeg. He attended St. John's High School and then went on to further his education in Norman, OK studying Petroleum Engineering. Upon his return to Winnipeg he established Beaver Oil & Fuel on McPhillips Street, a successful business he operated from the 1950s until the late 1980s. He was a happy man and enjoyed summers at the cottage, ballroom dancing, travelling and most of all he loved his wife, Barbara. Bernie was a man of few words but when he spoke, people listened. He was a true gentleman right until his last breath. He will be missed.
The family would like to thank all the staff at West Park Manor for taking such wonderful care of Bernie. They truly made it a family environment. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to them.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in the summer. A notification will be published when the date is known.
