Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I met Ken 13 years ago on the McFayden tennis courts. At the time I was new to tennis and I went by myself to the court to learn/practice serving. He and Douglas invited me to play with them, and even though I was terrible, they invited me back the next day, and the day after, and the rest is history. Ken spent countless hours running after my stray tennis balls, giving me kind instruction, and feeding me nice easy practice balls. His patience was unwavering and year after year he kept generously offering his time and energy to our afternoons of tennis. Playing tennis with Ken became a vehicle for building my self-confidence and also opened me up to a feeling of lightness and fun that I hadn’t experienced before. I will be forever grateful to him for being a guide on this journey for me. His support, his friendship, and the fun that we had together will not be forgotten. I miss him dearly and wish I didn’t have to say goodbye. What keeps me going in this time of sadness is the hope that the lightness with which he walked on this Earth and the kind-heartedness he demonstrated toward others has rubbed off on me and those who knew him, and that in some way he is still here, within us. - Posted by: Janaya Koberstein (Tennis Friend) on: Jun 02, 2019
