LOIS HAMILTON HURDLE
She left to forever cherish her memory Melvin Hurdle, her soul mate, daughters, Debbie Kolaski (Jason) and Wendy Haynes (Ronald), grandchildren, Lisa, Matthew, Melissa, Stephanie, Krystin and Jadyn, and her cherished friend and companion Winston (Chihuahua).
Lois was joyously brought into this world on April 2, 1929 by Jane and Lloyd Little in the town of Petrolia, Ontario. As she grew so did her beautiful soul and heart that captivated those around her.
Despite the trials and tribulations in her life, her greatest success and joy were always her two daughters, Debbie and Wendy. Creating a home that would forever flourish with love and memories, Lois, Mel and the girls built a lifetime of bittersweet memories.
From the long drives to Mexico, to the clear blue waters of Kakagi Lake, to the horses whose spirits mimicked that of Mom -despite her fear of riding them. Little did she know how much in common she had with them, the free, beautiful spirits that they both embodied until she had a touch of fruit punch with a sip of spirits one New Year's eve where she found the courage to climb aboard.
Mom always drove those she loved dear to succeed, sharing their struggles and laughter along the way. At a young age she and Mel moved from London, Ontario to Winnipeg for what was meant to be a short term stationing and soon became the start of a new chapter in their lives. Supporting Mel in building a new business while simultaneously caring for their family and home. Mom was certainly known for her love of cooking and baking, word search puzzles and her love of the lord. She created beautifully knitted blankets for her grandchildren to cherish, scarfs and mittens, and hats for her son in-law to wear to bed as she would laugh about the cool summer nights and even colder winters.
As her own children grew, Mom was granted the honorary title of Nana, and was she ever proud to wear the title. Always so ever present in her grandchildren's lives. Attending dance recitals, sport's competitions and their graduations as they continued to grow and succeed under her supportive wing of knowledge, kind words of wisdom and love. Nana was always ready to jump on the chance to boast about how incredibly proud she was of them.
As the years continued to pass and struggles were placed in her path she met them head on with the love and guidance of her family and especially her son-in-law Ron who often took her to Salisbury House for one of her favourite meals... blueberry pancakes and sausages. Ron would order the lighter seniors menu version while she would order and devour the full order.
Nana loved Halloween and would delay their vacation to Florida so that she could be here to hand out candy to the little trick or treaters. She also loved Christmas where she eagerly awaited the courier who delivered Santa's bag of gifts from Debbie.
So until we meet again Nan, in the beautiful gardens of heaven, we will forever remember your smile, hear your laugh, and reminisce over your charismatic sense of humour and unwavering love.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg.

Dear Debbie and Wendy, My heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beautiful Mom. My parents, Simon and Dorothy Armstrong (both deceased) were close friends with your folks when the two of you, my brother Glen and I were all children. I recall the times your Dad would take Dad, Glen and me up in his little plane and we would often come out to visit in the summer and relax around the pool. You girls did love your horses! Some great memories! May the Lord enfold you in His comfort, strength and peace during this time of loss. Please pass on a hello to your Dad from the Armstrong family. Blessings, Joan Hutchinson (nee Armstrong) - Posted by: Joan Hutchinson (Family friend) on: May 29, 2019
