Jim's career in accounting and finance spanned almost 50 years in the oil industry at Gulf Canada in Calgary and the casino industries in Alberta and Manitoba. Jim will forever be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends. Jim's great sense of humour, smile and infectious laugh endeared him to all. He especially enjoyed playing the role of family Santa on Christmas Eve, the day before his birthday. The love story of Jim and Hazel was one of deep and everlasting love and a legacy for his family.
We wish to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Karen Braun for her dedicated care of Jim for the past seven years and also special thanks to the ER medical staff at Concordia and St. Boniface hospitals in Winnipeg.
At Jim's request, the family held a private celebration of his life on May 24, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in Jim's honour.

We were both born in Calgary in the 30s , I knew Jim Jr. where we grew up. Jim comes from a family of 11 children born to Michael Skulsky who emigrated to Canada 1897 settled at Wostok, AB. Later on I knew Hazel & all the interface while Ukrainian dancing, singing and writing through a Labor temple in Calgary. Lost track of Jim & Hazel when they moved away from Calgary. Just located this obituary in Feb. of 2020. Condolences go out to Hazel & families. I will never forget Jim as the main Chef at the Palliser Hotel in Calgary & his famous clam chowder soup in the 60s. I'm was so sorry to hear of his passing. Although my time knowing Jim was extremely short, I'm glad I was able to meet him and share his 'blueberries'. - Posted by: Shelly (Nurse at Concordia) on: Jun 09, 2019

I have fond memories of Jimmy while growing up. I so admired Jim and Hazel's wedding and wanted one just like it. They were a beautiful couple. We appreciated Jimmy's contribution to our own wedding. Although we haven't been in touch over the years, I am sad to see of his passing and send our deepest sympathy to the family. May good memories help you through this difficult time. My heart goes out to you. Tina & Everett Miller - Posted by: Tina and Everett Miller (Cousin) on: Jun 01, 2019
