LARRY DOUGLAS ROGERS

Larry Douglas Rogers, 81, of Clandeboye, MB passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
Born on January 16, 1938, in Carmen, Manitoba, and forever had a farm-boy heart. Larry grew up in St. Vital where he shared countless stories of he and his buddies and brother Jim 'ruling the streets'. Larry started as an Apprentice Electrician with Manitoba Hydro in 1957. He grew his career at Hydro moving up the ranks to the Superintendent of Electrical Construction and retired in 1993. Larry and Doreen were active members of the Interlake Hydro-X Club, enjoying long-lasting friendships.
He married Doreen, the love of his life, in 1963, who survives him and together built a large and loud family. Larry is also survived by son Jim (Britta), and daughters, Laurie (Rene) and Brenda. Larry was so proud of his grandchildren: Brayden, Michael, Alina and Kelsey. His siblings across Canada also survive him: Eloise, Ron, Linda and Wendy and their families. Larry was predeceased by parents, Homer and Iva Rogers, his brother Jim Rogers (2017) and heart-breakingly, his youngest son, Bobby (2011).
Larry was a humble and hard-working man who provided for his family. He was a pioneer- driving an SUV before there was a name for them and recycling and upcycling before it was a thing. He loved hunting, fishing, trips to the dump and spending time on his property in Lundar, proud of the fact there was nothing new purchased to build his shack. Although he says he hated crowds, he loved having his family and friends all around him and was often the life of the party.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Clandeboye Community Hall.
