MARY (MIGUEZ) FOSTER
Mary was born in St. James on October 7, 1917. She was the middle child of Elvira and Anthony Miguez.
She is predeceased by her siblings, Maria, Matilda, Pilar, Joe, Art, Alf, George and Tony. She is also predeceased by her two oldest children, Shirley San Filippo and George Foster, daughter in law Kathleen Foster and sons in law Tony San Filippo and Dennis Hoban.
Mary is survived by her children, William, Vivian (Glen), and MaryAnne. She is also survived by her brother Fred.
Mary was very proud of her five children, 25 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Always a hard-working mother, Mary found her first job at a ladies fashion store, and then at Western Glove. She helped run the family business during the war and finished her working life with her retirement from Sears Polo Park in 1982.
Mary was always active with her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She never tired of seeing and hearing children play. She loved to play baseball, go skating and referee games.
Mary was a strong and independent woman who raised her five children alone and was able to live independently into her nineties. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and combined her love for family and her commitment to her faith by serving as President of the CWL and spending many Sundays walking with her children and then grandchildren from home to Church. She loved to laugh and to make those around her laugh and the Sunday walks to church were filled with connection and laughter and will always be fond memories for Mary's family to carry in their hearts. Mary leaves behind a legacy to all her family of strength, perseverance, and love.
We would like to thank those who supported our mother during her residence at both the Rosewood and West Park Manor.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charities that Mary supported in life:
