MYRTLE ALICE JEAN MELNYCHUK
(nee MILLER)
April 4, 1935 - May 26, 2019
Born April 4, 1935 in Prince Rupert, BC to Klara and Klaus Miller, Myrtle is left to be mourned by her beloved husband Earnest, of 62 years, who met while both were serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force stationed in Gimli.
Myrtle will be dearly missed by her loving daughters, Deborah (Andrew), Karen and Dorothy (Ernie); grandchildren, Dana (Ryan), Jarrod (Andrea), Myra, Daniel, Nathan (Kerri) and John (Vanessa), and great-grandchildren, Bari, Jaxon and Cassie.
She was predeceased by her brothers, George and Karston.
Myrtle attended Camrose Lutheran College at the age of 15, before moving to Winnipeg and joining the Air Force - where she served as an Aircraft Electrician until transferring to the Canadian Army, retiring as a Sergeant. She would never say no to ice cream, long prairie drives, game of crib, a sing along to a Tom Jones playlist, an excuse to bake, travel, a video game with the grandkids... anything for the grandkids really. She had an incredibly calm demeanour and was very active as one of the longest serving female Ordinary Members of the Royal Canadian Legion.
We would like to thank all of the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion during her time there.
A small service has already been held where family mourned their loss and celebrated Myrtle's life.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Myrtle's name to The Concordia Foundation.

Dorothy, It is with sympathy and empathy that we convey our condolences to your family. Your mom's active life, as disclosed in the message of her passing, is certainly harmonious with the feisty and very real person we came to (re-) know, Not many souls cross our paths so briefly which leave such a meaningful impression as did Dad's last "roomie" and her family. Thinking of you. - Deanna, Steve, Deb & Cheryl - Posted by: Klassen Family (firends) on: Jun 08, 2019

I will always remember Myrtle fondly, from the sleepovers, to the way she spoke lovingly about her grandchildren. She was so proud of them. Fly high Myrtle. - Posted by: Bronwyn Swanson (Family friend) on: Jun 08, 2019
