It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas William Kirner, on June 4, 2019, at the age of 55, with his family by his side, after a hard fought battle with lung cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Lianne; and their children, Eric (Lindsay, Gracelyn and Adalyn), Kaitlin (Ethan, Weston, Lincoln and Rosalie) and Stephanie (Kyle and Thomas); his brother Gord, and many extended family and friends.
Waiting in heaven to greet him are his parents, Mary and Eric; and siblings, Karl, Jimmy, Wendy and Don.
Tom was raised in Lockport, Manitoba. He began dating Lianne when he was just 19 years old and together they raised their family. He became a carpenter by trade, but really could do anything. There wasn't anything his family couldn't call him for help with. He was the most happy when he finally decided to step out of his comfort zone and start his own business.
Tom's second true love was riding his motorcycle. We are so grateful that he was able to spend so much time doing what he loved in the last few years of his life. He was able to take his family to Hawaii for an amazing vacation, spend lots of time in Arizona with great friends and spend all of his Sunday's with his grandbabies. He loved those kids so much, and wished more than anything that he could have had more time to watch them grow.
Thank you to everyone who has helped our family during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care unit of Interlake-Eastern Health Foundation, Selkirk Regional Health Centre, P.O. Box 5000, 120 Easton Drive, Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2, in Tom's memory.

I don't know what is more terrifying, the thought of our kids missing their dad, me missing my husband, the home missing its foundation or the family missing its hero. I'll miss you forever, goodbye my love.

Funeral service will be held at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, 105 Little Britain Road, Lockport, MB, on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.

  • I met Tom back in the mid 80's when he bought GT Racing snowmobile parts. He and Lianne moved out to Hazelridge and I somehow ended up there weekly for sure where Tom, Barry and myself would race and have demolition derbies with our sleds on Cooks Creek and make our way to Lockport. What a blast we had. We would get back to Hazelridge, repair damages and be ready to ride usually Thursday nights again. Tom and I worked together at Canadian Bronze as well, we had many conversations on starting our own businesses and would discuss many different ideas. Tom was a very smart, hard worker who was full of Heart. He was also an honorable man who, if he gave his word you needed nothing more. RIP buddy.
