LLOYD DANIEL MITCHELL
Lloyd was born on April 14, 1947 in Rossburn, Manitoba. He worked within the Pembina Trails School Division for 32 years, at which time he "retired" and took on another job with the Kenora Condo Corporation and enjoyed caretaking the Clear Water Bay condominiums and grounds for seven years.
Lloyd was the fifth of eight children born to Ecklin and Irene Mitchell. On August 29, 1970 he married his best friend and the love of his life Sandra Janette Ross. Together they raised two daughters, Tracey and Lisa and a son Tim. The results of their efforts led to a wonderful, extended family with eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Lloyd loved and cherished his family. His greatest pleasure was having everyone together in one place so he could sit back and enjoy their presence, every once in a while throwing out comments which we lovingly refer to as "Lloyd-isms". Dad was a generous giver, he was always willing to lend a hand, take time for a coffee or lunch. Most importantly he loved the Lord and lived out his passion daily. This is the legacy he has left. Dad's faith is his legacy and it is reflected in the lives of his family.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father Ecklin, mother Irene, and infant sister. He is survived by his wife Sandra; his children, Tracey, Lisa (Rob) and Tim (Corallee); grandchildren, Courtney (Ryan), Carly (Kyle), Colin, Katheryne, Alex, Jordan, Gideon and Micah; great-granddaughter Ruby; his brothers, Norman (Joyce), Irvin, Clarence (Clara) and Arnold (Marilyn), and sisters, Lavina (Dennis) and Linda (Don), as well as a whole slough of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Funeral service will be on Thursday, June 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Temple, 440 Hargrave Street and interment will take place on Friday, June 14 at 11:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Manhattan Beach Retreat Centre, 1 Main St., Ninette, Manitoba R0K 1R0, https://mbrc.ca/
