EARL ELLISON GRIFFIN
We were at his side as Dad left us to be with Mom on June 10, 2019.
Dad was born on Christmas Day 1925 in Vita, Manitoba to Jim and Annie Griffin. When he was 11 years old, he rode "Stimulus Maid" to victory against older jockeys in Hallock, Minnesota. Dad was a carman at CP Rail Weston Shops for 41 years, retiring in 1985.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gwen, in 2015 after 69 years of marriage; his 10
siblings (Fern Smith, Mary Fear, Cora in infancy, Grace Leslie, Dan, Ben, Harry, Margaret Olden, Jim, and Lloyd); and many cherished friends. He is loved and missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Scott McKellar.
Dad lived next door to us until he moved to Misericordia Interim Care on January 21 and then Calvary Place Personal Care Home.
We thank all the kind and compassionate individuals who were involved in this journey, especially Dorothy Hooey, the staff of Calvary Place, WRHA Palliative Care, Shoppers Polo Park pharmacy, and Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
In keeping with Dad's wishes, his earthly remains will be laid to rest next to Mom's at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens in a private
"Take this weight from me,
let my spirit be unchained"

Dearest Sheila and Scott, our deepest condolences to you both on your dad's recent passing. This is an extremely sad time for you, as we know how much yourself and Scott loved your dad. The care and compassion you showed him goes beyond measure. You both always put his needs first, and went above and beyond to make him comfortable and happy. Your parents were truly blessed to have you both in their lives till the very end. Please remember all the memories you shared with your dad, as it will bring you comfort during your time of sorrow. Scott and Sheila I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Father. Earl was a extremely caring and kind man. He always had a smile and kind word. I know your hearts are heavy and the pain unbearable. Earl would always tell me how you both took such loving care of him and how much he loved you both. May you both take comfort in knowing that he now lays in the arms of the Angels. - Posted by: Tom Gill (Friend) on: Jun 17, 2019
