MARGARET (MADGE) ELSIE
ELIZABETH WICK
May 22, 1925 - June 14, 2019

Peacefully on June 14, 2019 with her family by her side, Madge passed away at Donwood Personal Care Home.
Madge was predeceased by her husband Stan in 2012. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Brian, daughter Linda (Dale), grandchildren, Jordan (Samantha) and Brianna (Troy), great-grandson Layne, brother Jim (Gerry) sisters, Winnie, Pauline, sister-in-law Helen, and brother-in-law Ed Karlson (Doreen) and many nieces and nephews.
Madge was born in Badger, Manitoba to Gilfred and May Walker both from Lancaster, England. After moving to the city, Mom grew up mostly in the Fort Rouge area. She started working at age 14 at a local drug store, then at McKinney's Jewellery Store and finally for dentist, Dr. Tregobov. Mom also spent many years babysitting for various families which she truly loved.
Mom always said it was an adventure growing up with five siblings and as families grew they often came together in Petersfield organizing Easter egg hunts, mad hat family reunions and baseball games. Mom and Dad were active seniors joining bowling leagues and hosting lively, competitive card games. Mom loved to tease and be teased by her "favourite" (her only) son-in-law during these games. They loved spending time in nature while camping at Badger and Elma in their tiny bowler or later at our cabin in Arnes. Road trips to the west and east coast with sister Pauline were highlights and beautifully captured on film by Dad.
Mom was an avid gardener, sewer and baker. We all benefited from these talents over the years with unique Halloween costumes, favourite apple turnovers and the beauty of Mom's well-tended flower gardens.
More than anything, Mom cherished her time with family, especially her grandson Jordan, "Blue Jay" and granddaughter Brianna, "Chickadee." She was a doting, patient Grandma who never tired of baking, reading, playing games, endless swings at the park and spoiling her grandchildren.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all the health care staff at Donwood who cared so tenderly for Mom during her time there.
Cremation has taken place and in respect of Mom's wishes there will be no service. .
A private interment will take place later at Dunara Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to a charity of choice or to the Donwood Manor Foundation, 171 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB R2G OV9.
