LENA KAMINSKY
July 5, 1930 - June 15, 2019

Peacefully, while sleeping, our beloved Mother, Baba and friend left us at the age of 88.
Lena was predeceased by her loving husband Harry, her brothers, Don, Leonard, and nephew Peter. Lena will be missed by her children, Ernie (Shelley), Irene Balamatowski (Dave), Jerry (Janet) and Eugene (Helene); grandchildren, Melissa, Laura, Joel; Jordan, Sarah, Stefan (Jessica); Amanda, Caitlin, Janna, Warren; Andrew, Emily, Jessica, Alyssa and Jeremy; great-grandson Chase; her sister Mary; brother John, and nieces, Liz and Lucy.
Lena was born in Sandy Lake, MB to parents, Michael and Mary Bachewich. Lena married Harry Kaminsky on July 21, 1951. She was employed for 28 years at Sunshine Acme Linen and retired in 1996. Her home at 747 Arlington St. was always open for friends and family to celebrate life with an abundance of food, fun, drink and great memories. Kaminsky Korner at Nutimik Lake was Mom's place to enjoy the cabin life with family and friends for over 47 years.
Mom was a strong-willed caregiver who helped and provided for others and did not want recognition for her kindness. Mom was an excellent cook, making traditional Ukrainian meals and hosting Easter and Christmas for her large family. Mom was a devout Catholic and a dedicated volunteer to St. Josaphat's Parish for over 60 years. She took great pride in the Ukrainian Council Women's League and held positions as President, Treasurer, Secretary and Kitchen Convenor.
Mom lived at Autumn House for 28 years and made many friends. Recently, she resided at Lions Manor and continued her kindness to others and made more friends. Mom enjoyed watching the Bombers, the Jets, and curling. Mom's greatest pleasure was her children and her grandchildren. She enjoyed being part of their sporting events, dance and special occasions, and was proud of their accomplishments. The grandchildren will hold a special place in their hearts for their Baba.

Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 590 Alverstone St.
