(TRUDIE) IVY MAY DOWLER
(nee ARKLIE)
June 18, 1927 - June 19, 2019
Trudie was predeceased by her parents, William and Ivy Arklie, her husband Ken, her five older brothers and sisters, one of whom she had a special bond and friendship, Beckie.
Trudie will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert Land and Terry Land (Lynn), her grandchildren, Matthew, Robyn, Andrea (James O'Meara), Steven (Robyn Farion), and Ivy. G.G. also leaves behind her four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Shea, Kaedyn and Dylan. She will be missed by her sister, Dorothy Dickner (Rene), and her brothers, Ron Arklie (Dorothy) and Jack Arklie (Donnie).
Trudie had a varied career from CNIB to the taxation department in St. James and to Postmistress in Marquette, Manitoba. She was a dedicated member of the United Church in Winnipeg and Marquette. She was very involved in the social life in Marquette and her and the ladies catered many functions. One of her recipes was making coleslaw for three hundred. She was the resident family baker and her Christmas baking was legendary. Trudie loved her family and could be counted on to celebrate all occasions without fail. All who were lucky enough to know her will miss her quiet presence.
A celebration of Trudie's life will be held Friday, June 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
Flowers are gratefully declined and donations to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3G2, if you so desire, would be greatly appreciated.

Many memories of the Dowler and Moffat family get togethers. The big house on Harrow was always fascinating. With deepest sympathy. Wilma Robinson - Posted by: Wilma Robinson (My mother (Ethel McVety (Moffat) was a first cousin of Kenโs. ) on: Jul 05, 2019

I was a young child growing up in Marquette, MB. I remember how exciting it was to get to the post office ....no you donโt understand, I was the youngest of 11 children and we had to take turns, my turn didnโt come around very often...this is why I remember a few visits there very clearly. (1) walked to town to get the mail and my older sister made me wait outside ๐ I got stung in the ๐ by a ๐ (2) every other time it was my turn I went inside. It was exciting to see the envelopes โ๏ธ and it seemed that when you went to get the mail, there was always a friendly face and we felt safe there. Mrs. Dowler was always dressed so elegantly with jewellery and fancy cloths (we were poor, so she seemed like royalty to my young 5 year old mind). I wished one day to own a matching skirt and suit jacket like her...rest in peace Mrs. Dowler. ๐ - Posted by: Jocelyn Schick Eisert (Old Family postal clerk) on: Jun 27, 2019

Our deepest condolences to Bob, Terry and families on the loss of this wonderful lady. She was a good friend to Mom and our entire family. She was always very happy, witty and supportive. Our parents are gone now but I do remember many good times spent together with Ken and Trudie. I suspect they are continuing those good times as we speak! She was a great lady and will be missed. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Linda Schwartz and Vicki Perna (Strachan) and families (Friend) on: Jun 27, 2019
