NING WONG

With heavy hearts we mourn the passing of Ning Wong, 62, who succumbed to a brief battle with cancer. He was a wonderful uncle and brother, who possessed a gentle soul and generous spirit.
Ning was a very modest man both in his demeanour and lifestyle. He had been retired for many, many years. His life as a crisis worker for 30 years at the Main Street Project was challenging but he persisted with determination, hopefulness and integrity.
His joys were times with his family of nieces, Delaney (Bhav), Zephyra, Everett, Essex and nephew Ashton celebrating birthdays and holidays together. Frequent and fun times with 'The Sibs' included sisters, Megan and Meven, where having lunch together meant an entire day of 'doing stuff' that ended very late in the evening. A neighbour to the same folks for over 40 years, Ning was a warm, kind and thoughtful man, helping them in many ways throughout this time. Making donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society continuously throughout his lifetime, Ning is being remembered as having a 'heart of gold.'
He liked fast cars, unique cars and attended the annual car shows. Ning had a soft spot for furry little kittens and truly revelled in their play. 'Puppies' and 'Tiger' filled his life with purpose and pleasure, even teaching 'Tiger' his cat a multitude of tricks. His collection of masks, mugs, magnets and one-of-a-kind watches filled his home as he delighted in his pastime passion.
The life of Ning Wong can be measured by the love of his family and the care he held for others.
Cremation has taken place. A private remembrance for family to commemorate his life is planned.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I was shocked and saddened to hear of Ning’s death just today. My belated condolences to Megan, Meven and family. Although not being in touch with Ning for many years I have often, very often, reflected on our times spent together in our late teens and 20’s listening to music and “rapping” (when rapping meant talking) in the back room and later the living room at the house on Elgin, and our treks to Grand Beach and once to the US where we made it as far as Duluth. I truly look forward to seeing Ning again (John 5:28,29) - Posted by: Tony (Red) Markham (Friend) on: Sep 10, 2019
