STEPHANIE BALLA (BOBI)
Born: Dec 28, 1931
Date of Passing: Jun 22, 2019Offer Condolences or Memory
December 28, 1931 - June 22, 2019
Stephanie was predeceased by her parents, Eva and Peter; and sisters, Nadia and Mary.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter Janice; grandchildren, Jordan (Samantha) and Lauren (Mike); and great-grandchildren, Sienna Harvey and Sebastian Green.
Bobi was a giving, kind person who was easy to love. The minute she heard that you were under the weather, a pot of chicken soup was started. She was the happiest when she was cooking and feeding family and friends. There was always room for more at her table. Her Holubchi (cabbage rolls) were legendary, and could never be duplicated. Once tasted, they were sought out by all.
For many years Mom enjoyed bowling on the Ladies Trainor League. She was always striving for that Turkey (three strikes in a row). More recently, she enjoyed playing - whoops I mean winning at Bingo, bocce ball and whist - coming in second didn't work for her. She also loved doing her word search puzzles each day. Stephanie will be remembered for her smile, infectious laugh and how she loved to tease. She loved being a grandma and a great-grandma.
Many thanks to the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Grace Hospital for their compassion; it was invaluable. Many thanks to the nurses and aides at Golden West Centennial Lodge - they are a special group of people and Mom was lucky to have them in her corner. Lastly, thank you to Mom's companions, you helped to make the last four years better and easier for Stephanie.
A memorial service will be held at St. Chad's Anglican Parish located in Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, on Thursday, July 18, at 2:30 p.m.
As Stephanie loved animals, donations in her name may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)
To the extended family of Stephanie Balla. Our deepest sympathies go out to you all for the loss of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Stephanie was our neighbor from 1990 until she moved away from her home on Machray. She was a very lovely woman, generous and accepting person. She introduced herself shortly after we moved into the home across the street from hers. Stephie, as she requested us to call her, was open and very friendly to our children. She was very happy watching our children play in the neighborhood. We loved her like she was a second grandmother to the kids. She was always passing gift bags at halloween and Christmas, even Easter time. We returned the favor by shoveling her walk way for her, raking leaves and even helping out on small chores like washing the front windows of her home for her. She was extremely happy to walk with the girls and boys and our dog. She loved being around the kids, often walking to the park and even letting the kids take Roscoe for a walk at times. When we welcomed our own dog, which we named Rosco, minus the "e" at the end, she was surprised we had named our puppy after her Roscoe that passed a few years before we gained ours. Maybe it was fate, perhaps it was a way for us to show our love of animals and how much we knew her Roscoe meant to her. She was happy to see the kids play with him and also to have her accompany us on the many dog walks we took together. I personally will miss her smile and her wonderful stories she had to share about the neighborhood and her family and friends. Many times, after she sold her home and left to live elsewhere, I wondered how she was doing. Looking across the street at her old home, I still see her coming down the walk way and smiling and waving hello to us all. A beautiful woman, a wonderful lady and a very good neighbor and missed by us all. I pray that she is a peace and is looking down on us all. May she remain in your hearts as she remains in ours. Loved and respected, rest in peace Second Grandma Steffie! Sincerely and with deep sympathies The Weber family, April, Karl, Jessica, Christopher, Kathlene and Corinne. - Posted by: April Weber (Neighbour) on: Nov 07, 2019
