K. MILTON MCLEAN
October 29, 1938 - June 27, 2019

It is with great sadness the McLean family announces the sudden passing of K. Milton McLean, on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Allison (Scooter), whom he was married to for 56 years, and Diane (Trevor) Lauren and Duncan Gowler. Craig (Melissa) Max and Jackson McLean. Wendy, Amy, Mitch and Sam Mellquist. Milton is also survived by his brother Barton (Judy) McLean. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenny and Mary, and his brother Donald McLean.
Growing up in Winnipeg, Milt enjoyed working on old cars, he was a self taught mechanic, and had a love for aviation as he participated in the Royal Canadian Air Cadets.
Milt graduated from Kelvin High School, and then later from the University of Manitoba with a Chartered Accountant Designation.
He began working for Sill Streuber Fiske & Co., in 1966, working his way up in four years to Partner and then later onto Managing Partner of the firm. In 1987, Milt became a Founding Governor and helped start the Thomas Sill Foundation where he was President and served for 22 years.
Milt was a very key member of the community serving on the boards of Heart & Stroke Foundation, River Heights Community Centre, and Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club, and the Winnipeg Jets in the early World Hockey Association days.
Milt had many interests including hunting, fishing, golfing, carpentry, computers, and was a big Winnipeg Jets fan.
He had a smart financial mind, and a great interest in anything mechanical.
He loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren at the lake. We will all miss him so much xoxo.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 5 at 11:00 a.m., at The Gates on Roblin, 6945 Roblin Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I would like to talk to someone who knew Milty and Barton well. I'm in California and have important info for the family. Thank you Sal Martinez - Posted by: Salvador Martinez (Brother Bartons good friend) on: Jun 28, 2022

  • Carol and I were saddened to learn of Milt's passing. Our friendship with Milt began in our early teens, beginning with the Hotheads Hot Rod Club and has extended over 65 years. His smile was infectious and his friendship genuine. We have so many happy memories of good times throughout these many years. We will miss him dearly. Our condolences and thoughts are with Scooter and her family. - Posted by: David and Carolyn Grant (Long time friends) on: Jul 05, 2019

  • Scooter & family, I recall with fondness our friendship from school and university days. Such a long time ago. I hope the good memories of a life well lived help you through this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Shirley (Nelson) and David Knowles, Ottawa - Posted by: Shirley Knowles (Friend) on: Jul 04, 2019

  • We are in Guelph and, very regrettably, cannot attend the celebration of Milt's life on July 5. Milt's life was itself a celebration. He enjoyed it with eagerness. His humour was infectious. It was also, from time to time, irreverent. But he could get away with that. A friend, inquiring about this sad time, commented that on the few occasions that he had met with Milt, there was always a twinkle in his eyes. Our friend concluded, after such limited contact, that Milt clearly knew how to enjoy life. He enjoyed children, too, and taught our kids to play "paper, rock, scissors" with that ever present gleam. He also knew how to be compassionate. Milt had plenty of time for the less fortunate. Hugh remembers how especially kind he was to intellectually challenged people during his tenure with the Thomas Sill Foundation. We will miss Uncle Milt. Our condolences to his family. May your sadness and grief be overwhelmed by good memories in the time to follow. - Posted by: Hugh and Valerie Arklie (Friends) on: Jul 04, 2019

  • My heart goes out to Scooter and the Mclean Family. Sending you all my deepest condolences. Mr. Mclean was like a father to me. He always checked in with me to see how I was doing. I will truly miss his infectious laugh, his beautiful smile, and his warm and caring heart. May you Rest In Peace, Mr. Mclean. You will be deeply missed by all.
