JAMES DENNIS BIDDULPH

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Jim Biddulph, aged 69, of Cole Harbour, NS, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, on June 30, 2019, after a lengthy battle with IPF lung disease.
Born in Winnipeg on March 12, 1950, Jim was the son of the late Dennis and Kathleen (McCorquodale) Biddulph. Jim attended Vincent Massey High School in Winnipeg. He moved to Vancouver in 1976, marrying Cathy in 1977. They later moved back to Winnipeg, where sons, Rob and Dan, were born. After returning to Cathy's home province of Nova Scotia in 1991, Jim attended CompuCollege. Over his working years, he was a salesman for T.S. Simms, NCR, Majestic Paper and Axis Mobility, retiring in 2010. After retirement, Jim volunteered his time with Habitat for Humanity. Jim loved the outdoors. He was happiest fishing, camping, boating, as well as coaching and watching soccer. He also loved travelling. In the early years, the Biddulph clan crisscrossed Canada and the US and enjoyed their camp on the Lee River, Manitoba, with family and friends. More recently, family trips to Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean were especially memorable, with Little Mushamush Lake becoming his new favourite gathering spot. Most of all, Jim cherished the time he spent with his family.
Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years, Cathryn (Carter); sons, Robert (Yolanda), Lawrencetown, NS and Daniel (Danielle), Victoria, BC; brothers, Lyle (Jevne) and Brian (Cheryl), Winnipeg, MB; "sisters", Judy, Nancy and Val; mother-in-law Pauline Carter; brothers-in-law, Ron Robinson, Alan (Lorraine) Carter, Arthur Carter and David (Judy) Carter; sister-in-law Christine Carter (Stephen Taggart); nephews, Ryan and Steven; and nieces, Kristen, Alycia, Lauren, Chris, Nicole, Charis, Carly, Lindy, Robby, Alice, Katherine, Rachel, Sarah and Ellen; treasured granddaughter, Isabella, will miss her "Bumpy" very much, as will "grandsons", Aiden and Tristan.
Jim was predeceased by his stepmother Eileen; sister Patricia "Patti"; and father-in-law Brenton Carter.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Interment to take place in the Old Barns Cemetery, NS, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation:

  • Dear Cathy and family, I was really saddened to learn of Jim's passing, we had know each other since Oakenwald School, that is a long time. We had a great group of guys and gals from the Fort Garry Wildwood Park area, did we have fun? oh yes, I actually was in school with Jim my whole life, often in the same classroom. I had not seen him for several years, and was hoping to see him at the Massey reunion next year. He will be missed immensely by his family. RIP Jim you deserve it, no more pain. Hugs to all the family. - Posted by: Nancy Mann (nee Williams) (Friend) on: Jul 05, 2019
