JOHN C. WALTON
September 19, 1946 - July 3, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of John Walton, at his home, on July 3, 2019.
Mourning his loss are Lorraine Walton and their children, Jenn (Kevin Swan), Michael (Tara), Ann (James Peters) and Chris; his brother Mark (Pam) and their children, Katie (Dan Barber and their daughter Val) and Greg. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Vance ("Peggy and Bud") Walton and his nephew Jeff Walton. He will be fondly remembered by many respected former colleagues across Winnipeg's performing arts community, and a small, cherished circle of special friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, with a full obituary published at that time.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate gifts in John's memory to the Jeff Walton Memorial Bursary, Cathedral High School, 30 Wentworth St. N., Hamilton, ON L8L 8H5, (905) 522-3581, to Fort Whyte Alive, 1961 McCreary Road, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2K9, (204) 989-8355, or the charity of your choice.

I have very fond memories of John spending time with many of the stagehands after the performances. Noel has been gone now for 32 years,, he passed at 59. I will be 90 in December never married again. I do send my deepest condolences to you and your family and know how he will still be a part of your lives always. - Posted by: Helen Fontaine (Wife of Noel) on: Jul 22, 2019

  • I was saddened by the news of John's passing. My thoughts and prayers go to Lorraine and the Walton Family. I worked for John for 10 years at the Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall and have many fond memories of those years. I remember John as a very kind and gentle man. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Gail Rau (Friend - Worked at Concert Hall for John Walton many years ago) on: Jul 13, 2019

  • I still have a lyric, penned by John over 35 years ago, reassuring me that useful life was not over on my fortieth birthday. Good friend. Condolences to the family Mike & Elaine - Posted by: Michael & Elaine Stirrup (Friend and neighbour) on: Jul 12, 2019

  • We were so saddened to learn of John's/your dad's passing. We knew him for so many years....starting back in the '70s when I was an "usherette" at the Concert Hall in Winnipeg. John was our "big boss". Always present, we did our best to work with him to make sure patrons were well looked after when they attended shows. I/We have very fond memories of those times. We also have great memories as the Walton family grew and all 4 of you children forged your way through life....John, your dad, will always have a special place in our memories. Lorraine and family, please know that you are all very much in our thoughts and prayers. Glen & Val - Posted by: Glen & Val Bergeron (Friends) on: Jul 09, 2019

  • My sincere condolences to the Walton Family. I am shocked and saddened to learn of John’s passing. We were close childhood friends. We attended Sacred Heart School and Church, on Hamilton Mountain. We next went to Cathedral High in downtown Hamilton and afterward, still together, headed out on our adventure to Saint Mary’s University in Halifax! Later I visited with John a few times in Winnipeg when I was there on business. I have many good memories of John and the Walton family in our Hamilton Mountain neighbourhood. RIP my friend. - Posted by: Harry McInroy (Friend) on: Jul 06, 2019
