Dear Val, Andrew and Chris, our hearts go out to you all - we know what it is like to experience a family loss. Based on our experience we also know there is very little we can say or do to erase the pain of Bob's loss. We will always remember Bob as a courageous, friendly and considerate neighbour. We loved to see him coming across the street for a neighbour "catchup chat". Could be about golf, your boys, grandchildren, recent street activities or how lake life was going for us. We think of you often as you all navigate this extremely difficult life event. Our hearts are with you. Val I can hardly believe a world without Bob. It seems like only yesterday we carpooled with Gerry to Stonewall with old Jack Gibson for $5 a week. Bob was not only a colleague but a friend. He was a great teacher and a well respected VP. He will be sorely missed Ross and Kris - Posted by: Ross Metcalfe (Friend) on: Jul 25, 2019

I've heard it said That people come into our lives for a reason Bringing something we must learn And we are led To those who help us most to grow If we let them It is impossible to come up with a value for having a great teacher. Those that help us most to grow. Priceless. It speaks volumes to the level of respect that many of us former students still address him as Mr Lovatt. Condolences to the family and friends but hopefully they may be comforted by the knowledge that many lives have been touched by this great teacher. - Posted by: Lloyd Jensen (Student & parent of student) on: Jul 12, 2019

Condolences to you Val and boys. I feel so saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. He was my first vice-principal to work with for several years. I’ll always remember that he would come into all of our classes with a class list on a clip board and would quiz himself to be sure that he could put a name to a face for every single student every year. He usually remembered their aunt, uncle and grandparents also! He and I carpooled together for some time and he always shared such positive stories of his children and of his day in general. Such a great man whose love for people will always be remembered. - Posted by: Aileen Wadge (Colleague) on: Jul 11, 2019

Mr. Lovatt was one of the best teachers anyone could ask for. He never treated any of his students differently, he had a heart of gold and would help each and every student see that things always got easier the more you tried, and most of all he genuinely cared about each and everyone of us kids no matter what we said or did. After many year my kids got to have Mr. Lovatt as their principal and he still treated every student the same way as he did in the '80s. My condolences to his family and friends. RIP Mr. Lovatt you will be missed by everyone who got to have the privilege of having you in their life! - Posted by: Joanne McIntyre (Former student) on: Jul 10, 2019

Mr. Lovett was my PA teacher and he made you feel special and letting you know you can do anything. He always made sure you believed in yourself. If you needed to talk you could always come to him for any help. He was respected and a great teacher I am so glad I knew him. I want to send my prayers to the family. May God be with you - Posted by: Teresa Karpick (Student ) on: Jul 10, 2019

Bob's sister-in-law Lyla, her husband Lester and their family Kristen, Liz, Mike, Cody and Dillan, like so many others are truly saddened by Bob's passing. Through the years, whether near or far, we always felt his warmth and fairness. Rest in Peace - Posted by: Lyla Waterhouse (Sister-in-law) on: Jul 09, 2019

I am so very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was an amazing teacher. I will always remember and be grateful for his time and effort in helping me when I came to Centennial School in Grade 8. He was patient, kind, and dedicated to seeing the plan he and my Mom came up with to help me. I would not have become the teacher I am today without the inspiration of people like Bob that helped me. He is the reason that I now love teaching Math! Rest well Bob. You earned it. - Posted by: Heather Jensen (Lawrence) (Former Student/Colleague) on: Jul 08, 2019

Oh, Val, my heart is breaking for you! Bob was such fun to be with at our Alpha Phi get-togethers, He was a wonderful man. The tributes from his students and fellow teachers speak volumes; he was truly a gift to all. But most of all to you and your family. How you must have had to be strong over these last years. I will be praying for you and your family. May you find peace and healing in the days ahead. Love, Your sister in A-Phi, Susan aoe - Posted by: Susan Mary Garbett-Snidal (Friend) on: Jul 08, 2019

Was such fun teacher that made school seem not so bad! Now in reality, I remember how good it was. Dad was a bus driver that always remember Bob to stop by his bus to say hello 👋!!! He was such a great guy and will be missed by many! - Posted by: Bernice Letkeman (Procure) (Student ) on: Jul 07, 2019

I remember following my brother's footsteps and trying to call him Rob in class. He had me copy out the entire glossary of my Math textbook over numerous detentions which I didn't mind as he was an awesome teacher. He will be sadly missed - Posted by: Joe Jensen (Student ) on: Jul 07, 2019

Just heard from a friend Mr. Lovett had passed and wanted to offer condolences to his friends and family. What I remember most about him was his calm and friendly disposition, but also commanding respect and accountability in his students through his booming voice, height, and no-nonsense approach. On a lighter note my old man got an up close and personal account of his skill on the volleyball court when he got smashed in the face phone booth style during a rec teachers and spouses volleyball game... hahaha Thanks for your mentorship and rest peacefully. - Posted by: Ryan Margetts (Student/colleague ) on: Jul 06, 2019

He was my math teacher when I went as an exchange student in 2001. He always cheered me up when I used to get home sick and when I had a hard time, he always told me, "Remember how lucky you are to get this experience". At the beginning I was kind of scared of him because he was super big, but we ended up being close. When I came back to visit in 2005 he said to me, "I knew you loved it here!" So sad about his passing .... - Posted by: Renata (Student) on: Jul 06, 2019

Mr. Lovatt was one of my favourite teachers, always very kind and patient with his students, but able to laugh and relate with them too. My two kids were fortunate to also have him as a teacher. I was very happy to be in attendance the night he was honoured by the school as they named the gymnasium in his honour. It was a great tribute to a great man and wonderful educator. He will be missed in the community of Stonewall. - Posted by: John McIntyre (Former Student) on: Jul 06, 2019

I’m so sorry to read about one of my favourite teachers from my school days passing. Just thinking of him now and the many funny memories I have. One in particular is one day a group of us kids decided to prank him and we picked up his car and turned it sideways in his stall. That was a funny moment as he had to wait till everybody had left who parked beside him. I will always remember him as the tallest teacher who drove the smallest car. I’m very sorry for the family as he was a great teacher, friend and mentor. You will be missed, Sincerely, Robert - Posted by: Robert Murray (Grade 6,7,8 student ) on: Jul 06, 2019
