Susan Diane Graham passed away suddenly at Lake of the Woods - her favourite place in the universe doing what she loved with her cherished husband, Adam Pankhurst.
Beloved mother of Kaitlyn and Robert Scott, brother of Bruce Graham, aunt to Holly and Fisher and lifelong friends with Lisa Fraser and Lynn Savage, Sue will be missed more than words can express.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, Diane (nee Wilson) and Robert, whose example guided and inspired her throughout her life.
In all that she did - whether as Head girl of Balmoral Hall, completing her BA of Recreation from the University of Manitoba, raising funds to build the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and to support the Health Science Centre Foundation - Sue acted with integrity, respect and kindness. Sue had vision and commitment, working at Medallion Milk Co. and serving on the Board of CancerCare Foundation at the time of her passing.
Known for her open-hearted hospitality, Sue was easy to talk with and offered fair and wise counsel without judgment. Profoundly grateful for all she had in her life, Sue's laugh was contagious and she inspired those around her to become the best they could be.
Sue will be deeply missed but will be remembered with joy wherever her people gather.
A celebration of Sue's life will be held on Friday, July 12 at 11:00 a.m. at The Gates on Roblin, 6945 Roblin Blvd., Headingley, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue's honour to Health Sciences Centre Foundation, PW112-700 William Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0Z3,

  • In memory of Head Girl Susan Graham '81. Our deepest sympathies flood from Susan's BH Family to her family and friends. A great loss for our community. Susan was a great supporter of her alma mater and volunteered tirelessly on our Alumnae Board, Heritage Committee and as a campaign volunteer. We are so sorry to hear Susan has passed and our hearts are with you all in this time of sorrow. - Posted by: Balmoral Hall School (Friend) on: Jul 15, 2019

  • Robbie, Jack and I (and our family) are so sorry for your loss! I met your mom only a few times but the love and the pride she had for you and your entire family was evident. I’m sure your mom will be watching over you and will continue to cheer for Crusaders Football. Many blessings as you navigate through this difficult time. - Posted by: Anne Marie (and son, Jack) Healey (Friend) on: Jul 12, 2019

  • It's not often we meet people whom within the first minute you just want to hug. Susan sparkled, she was genuine, smart, and lovable. Our thoughts to all saddened by her passing. - Posted by: John Quinton (Friend) on: Jul 12, 2019

  • Sending our condolences to family and friends. Sue was the fearless leader of the gang of my childhood friends. Lovely memories of playing together as kids at the Lake. Fun filled memories of boat trips and meeting up at her cottage. Too many memories to choose a favourite! Sue was also a hugely popular Leader at school and in business and the community. So we think of the celebration of Sue’s life and send hugs to Winnipeg, from Simon and I in Sydney and Samantha in Vancouver. It will be some sold out celebration! Missing you! Love Barb, Simon and Samantha - Posted by: Barbara Leach-Walters (Friend) on: Jul 11, 2019

  • I was saddened to hear about Sue. I have such good memories of Sue from our days together at Balmoral Hall. I came to B.H. for Grade 10-12 from Kenora, ON. Yes, Lake of the Woods. I remember Sue as being so friendly and happy. She had such a warm smile. I was so nervous attending a new school and she made me relax right away. She was kind to every person. We lost touch but when she met my younger sister, Christine Pan, a couple of years ago she asked about me and how I was doing. That was Sue, always thinking about others. She was a very special person. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends and classmates of '81. - Posted by: Susan Der (Classmate) on: Jul 11, 2019

  • My sincere condolences go out to Susan's family and close friends. I was in the same grade as Susan at BH and do remember her infectious laugh, happy demeanor and wonderful energy. It is a shock to hear of her passing and truly a loss for us all, and those who were lucky enough to get to know her. - Posted by: Nicola James (school friend) on: Jul 11, 2019

  • My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time after such a tragic end of life experience for Susan. Where do I begin? We go so far back, back to tally-hos, Christmas dinners, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and of course all our wonderful memories from so many summers at the Lake together, the Lake Susan loved. "Suzie-Q" will always hold a special place in my heart. She was kind, thoughtful, had a great sense of humor and supported all her friends throughout her lifetime. Her leadership qualities became evident at a young age at BH, where she held numerous leadership roles, followed by summers at the Lake where Sue was always organizing the next group gathering and hosting us all until the wee hours of the morning. I can hear her laugh right now as I reflect back and see her beautiful smile, so radiant and welcoming to us all and any newcomer. Suzie-Q will be greatly missed by so many and my heart aches for each and every one who had the honor of knowing her. There are so many of us who have had the distinct honor and tremendous good fortune to have truly known her and have had a strong connection with her over the years. My heart aches deeper for her immediate family, her husband, her children, her brother (Bruce) and for so many, many of her sisters - Lisa (Fraser), Lynn (Savage), Alex (Banfield), Sarah (Michener) - just to name a few), and all her brothers too that she touched in her own special way, welcoming them into her life and making all our lives just that much more special and fulfilling. Thank you, Suzie-Q, for ALL your love, your warmth, your joy and laughter that you've brought to us all for so many, many years. Tragically, your life was cut short and far too soon, Suzie-Q, but you have shared so many lessons with us all over the years, bringing us altogether to honor you today, and reminding us all of the important things in life, our connections with one another, our love for one another, kindness and thoughtfulness for one another. Your radiant smile and laugh will forever be in my heart. All my love to you, Suzie-Q, may you rest in peace sweet friend. All my love and sincere condolences, "Gilly Bean" Gillian (McDonald) Quinn - Posted by: Gillian (McDonald) Quinn (Friend) on: Jul 11, 2019
