JO-ANN HELGA EMILY SWENSON
November 6, 1942 - July 7, 2019
She was a beloved mother, wife and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Peter Swenson, her two children, Christian Stefansson and Susanne Murdock (spouse Ryan), four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, as well as numerous other family members, church family and friends.
Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg where she pursued her career of Social Work. Her passion was always to help people. She touched lives everywhere she went, whether at church or on the street, her mission was always to show the love of Christ, and that she did, unashamedly!
She would say: "Don't be sad for me, I am rejoicing with my beloved Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ. I pray that just as He has comforted and sustained me while on this earth, that as you embrace Him, He will comfort and sustain you until we meet again in Heaven."
She spent her last week surrounded by family and loved ones and the supportive staff at Riverview.
All are invited to her Celebration of Life service at Church of the Rock, 1397 Buffalo Place on Monday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m.

Very sad to learn of Joanne’s passing, but comforted in knowing that she is now in heaven and no longer in pain. I am unable to attend the funeral as I am Grannie Nannie to my 21 month old grandson. The beautiful memories of my kind and companionate cousin will be shared by many today. I will be with you in spirit. God Bless. Nina - Posted by: Nina Logan (Cousin) on: Jul 15, 2019

Our sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to Peter and family. Jo-Ann was such an amazing warrior in the faith, standing in the gap for so many over the years. She truly defined the very Love of God. We can only imagine the Joy that she is experiencing in Heaven today as she rejoices with her Saviour “Well done thou good and faithful servant”. - Posted by: Gordon and Sharon Gray (Friends) on: Jul 14, 2019

It's with sadness that you couldn't see all the goodness that you brought, but in actuality you probably are seeing all the goodness and greatness that you contributed with the love that you showed everybody. Our father up in heaven is giving you many crowns for all the souls you led to Christ, you are a bright star, and on our day, when it comes," we will be there, shining like you are, amongst the angels in heaven..... I love what it says in Scripture that we know that you are at home with the Lord so we rejoice because we know where you are. We learnt a lot about being a true Believer in Christ through the love that you shared and most of all showed to everyone. - Posted by: Gerry Joseph Marceau (Spiritual son) on: Jul 13, 2019

I attended counselling with Jo-Ann years ago, and have run into her numerous times over the years. My heart goes out to you as family, but I am happy that she has been united with Christ and anyone who has gone on before her. Know that you are loved. - Posted by: Kim Ellison (Friend) on: Jul 13, 2019

My sincere condolences to all of Jo-Anne's Sisters & Brothers as well as all her cousins near & far. Jo-Anne definitely was a lovely caring lady to all. My Sisters & I spent a lot of time with Jo-Anne & family over the years. There was a large gap in our visits when Jo-Anne was living overseas but in recent years we re-acquainted again to my pleasure. She will be sadly miss by all. Love Sandy. - Posted by: Alex (Sandy) Stratton (Cousin) on: Jul 13, 2019
