RONALD PRUDEN

Peacefully Ronald Alexander Pruden passed away on July 8, 2019.
He was born on June 27, 1937 in Wadhope, Manitoba. His father, Alexander James, worked in Gods Lake Mine and his mother, Kathleen Blythe, resided near Gods Lake; shortly after Alex went to a job in Madson at the Red Lake Gold Mine and Kay went to live with relatives in Winnipeg. In 1938 Ron went to Madson with his mom and little brother to a cabin with no water, no electricity, no telephone and an outdoor toilet. Kay felt like she had fallen off the edge of the world, but survived and thrived. Ron attended a single room school in Madson and skipped two grades in the process! He attended high school in Red Lake until he was 17, then enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. The RCAF was a going concern with bases all over Canada and missions all over the world. The family enjoyed letters from him from Zost Zweibiuken and Montreal, PQ.
Ron married Elizabeth in November, 1959 in Portage La Prairie, he was transferred many times and lastly in Winnipeg. He retired from the Air Force in 1974 and immediately re-enlisted in the reserves and served another 27 years until 2001 as Commander of Prairie Cadets.
Ron and Elizabeth looked after foster children on behalf of the Manitoba Government - over 100 young children were given care and affection in the beginning journey of their life.
Ron and Elizabeth had three children, Kathy, Barry and Tracey, seven grandchildren, Michael, Courtney, Andrew, Majestic, Anthony, Jade and Skye, and three great-grandchildren, Summer, Madyson and Ireland. He was predeceased by first wife Elizabeth and son Barry. He is also survived by his brother Barry "Buddy", and his second wife Dianna .
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Charleswood Legion.

RIP Ron...you are loved.

  • Ron and I went to school, together at Madsen and Red Lake. Two years ago we enjoyed our Red Lake reunion here with friends from Red Lake and were looking forward to doing it again this year. Ron had a sharp mind and great sense of humour that we all enjoyed and always supported getting together with fellow Red Lakers. From everyone at Madsen and Red Lake our loving support to all the family. - Posted by: Sonja Lundström (Friend) on: Jul 17, 2019
