BARRY JAMES PALUK

It is with immense shock and profound grief that we announce the sudden death of Barry James Paluk on July 6, 2019; son of John and Laura Paluk; loving husband to Tracy Paluk (Slaney); and proud father of Jenelle Paluk (Brad) and James Paluk (Andrew). Barry was predeceased by his mother, Laura, and his younger brother, William. He spent his final days doing what he loved: camping, fishing, and being in the sun.
Barry was born and raised in St. Vital, in Winnipeg, where he lived until the time of his passing. He wore many hats, including hockey coach, mentor, business owner, jokester and sports enthusiast. He was the "fun guy," who loved to travel and golf. Most importantly, though, he loved his family. He was a dedicated father to not only his biological children, but their spouses and friends. Barry always was willing to give out some sound fatherly advice and mentorship to all who needed it.
Barry is survived by many family members who will miss him dearly: sister Joyce (Paul), brother John (Donna), sister Sharon (Roger); Aunt Elaine and her brother-in-law Ray; and many nieces and nephews, as well as all of their children: John-Paul (Dana), Shereen (Marc), Danielle (Jimmy), Lezlee (Drew), Cole (Delora), Kent (Ashley) and Janna (Zac). There are countless other aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family that are too numerous to list, who we know are saddened by this loss.
A celebration of Barry's life will take place on Monday, July 15 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Norberry-Glenlee Community Centre (26 Molgat Ave.), in Winnipeg. Refreshments will be served. We encourage all who knew Barry to attend, and share with us a funny story about him - we know there are plenty.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, as one of Barry's greatest lifetime achievements were his past almost 13 years of sobriety.

  • Tracy and family. Was taken aback by the obit and offer my condolences for your loss. I will not make the reception but would like to say that Barry and I shared a common thread and after getting over the bad stuff we found that we loved going to Vegas and golfing. The trips we made we good times and some even paid off. Barry was happy, talkative and generous. When I complained about leaving my cap in the hotel he went into the clubhouse and bought one so he would not have to listen to me anymore. I still wear it golfing. When you and Barry traveled to the US, he was all for picking some car parts up for me in Carolina and bringing them back to Winnipeg. Great guy. We had some fun times in Harrahs....should have had a video. He will be missed. Bill - Posted by: Bill Lopuck (Friend) on: Jul 15, 2019
