He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Susan; daughters, Helga (Hans), Hedy (Wayne), Anita (Chris); grandchildren, David, Evan (Stacey), Keith, Caley; and great-grandson Kiptyn.
John was born in Mariental. He fled to Holland and then to Paraguay with his family during the war. It was in Paraguay that he trained his beautiful horses he was so proud of. He met and married Susan in Paraguay in 1956. Together they immigrated to Canada in 1958. He worked at Canadian Bronze for 32 years and was a master craftsman of bronze and aluminum castings.
There was nothing dad couldn't fix or build, tirelessly working and always willing to lend a helping hand. He meticulously cared for his home and garden and, looking at his bare driveway, you wouldn't know it was winter. He enjoyed his daily walk for the newspaper, without our knowledge with our dog Max at times. Dad loved visits with his grandchildren, always sharing his chocolate stash. Dad, your humour and big smile will forever be missed by all. Rest in peace.
We would like to express our gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion dad received from the staff at West Park Manor.
A private family service will be held.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)
I misspoke in my earlier message. I do show John's parents and siblings, but not the names of his wife, children or their families. Thanks for sharing. - Posted by: Bob Strong () on: Jul 14, 2019
My sincere condolences on your loss. I pray that memories of happier times will see you through your time of grief! "God gave us memory so we might enjoy roses in winter." I am a respected researcher of Mennonite genealogy, and would like to connect your loved one to his/your family and ancestry, which I am unable to do given the limited information in his obituary. My genealogy project contains over 495,000 individuals, including more than 2,000 Quirings, but neither it nor major sources appear to show any connection to your dearly departed. I have a particular interest because my son-in-law and granddaughters bear that surname. Please contact me at an appropriate time if you are willing to share/exchange details. Thank you. All information about living individuals is suppressed to protect your/their privacy. - Posted by: Bob Strong () on: Jul 14, 2019
I'm sorry for your loss. Sending you all our condolences. - Posted by: Elly Quiering (Niece) on: Jul 13, 2019
Very sorry to hear of Mr. Quiring's passing. I went to Greenway School with Helga and spent time in your home on Lipton Street. I lived on Banning Street - 4 houses from Greenway School. Sincere sympathy to all - Posted by: Margaret dela Wyche Howarth (School friend of Helgas) on: Jul 13, 2019
